After drooling over the Trojan Horse site for months I have to wonder how there is enough of a Buell market 'over there' to support such a tremendous range of exotic (and very cool) accessories, and apparently not such a market 'over here'.

Are there that many more Buells in Great Britain creating more demand for top end stuff, or are the Brits that much more passionate about modifying there bikes to create such demand?

Perhaps Trojan is quite a small operation and produces as demand dictates with very little or no stock on hand, but just the quantity of trick items that they have available for XB's compared to any domestic source makes me really jealous!

...and of course the exchange rates absolutely suck to consider buying from them

Currently Buell is selling in the neighborhood of 67% of their total production to overseas markets.
It only makes sense that where the bikes are, so will be the parts.

I do agree that the exchange rate sux..but its the shipping costs that will burn you. When I bought a fender for my Dyna from Germany last year, it cost me something like $65 to have it shipped here.

As an Anglo-American myself who spends time in both countries I think the answer to this question can be found in culture.

Europe and in particular Britain is proliferated with tiny country lanes that meander around long established small holdings in a vague and rather charming attempt to link A to B. Consequently. whilst in America the traditional emphasis when designing motor vehicles was on space, outright power and comfort that could make full use of their straighter and wider roads, the Europeans were designing smaller packages where the emphasis was on balancing performance with handling. Therefor the environment created the demand for different emphasises in design, whilst the supply reinforced that demand.

For centuries racing in Europe has been done on the open roads. It is in the blood of the European to race on the roads. Many of it's most notorious and popular races are held on ordinary roads. It is taken for granted that a race track should include a 180 mile an hour dash threw the centre of town, such as in Monty Carlo, followed by some neat manhole cover and humpback bridge negotiating, such as at the Isle of Man TT races. Indeed it is a never-ending source of bewilderment to many Europeans as to how races such as the ones held at Daytona that only have two straights and a couple of corners could be interesting.

The passion for road racing in Europe is so great it effectively silences those who oppose it on the grounds of health and safety. Even the laws that apply to those caught speeding in Europe reflect this difference in attitude and are competitively less draconian than in the States.

The XB Buells are the first American motorcycles to so perfectly fit this long established market in Europe. It is not surprising that they are selling so well there. I believe that once the 12s establish their reputation amongst the European biking congnesentti sales of the bikes there are likely to far outstrip sales in America.

Finally, European sport bike riders for as long as I can remember have been obsessed with refining their bikes in an attempt to scratch back a milli-seconds worth of time from their favourite stretch of road. Rich or poor they are proud of these modifications and 'en mas' have created just the kind of market that supports small enthusiasts enterprises such as Trojan Horse.

One of the reasons you'll find such a wide stock at Trojan is their enthusiasm for Buell, hence their race success with the XB. They know the ins and outs of the marque and they are generous with their time to help BBS cries for help and that's invaluable in the UK as the dealer network is terrible. I recommend them.

As for the country lanes thing in Blighty, it makes up for the weather!

PS Grufflie - the blood and carnage myth of the IOM TT is often overstated. There have been a few high-profile splatterings, such as the Dave Jeffries tragedy in 02 (poor marshalling I'm afraid) but in a century of racing there less people have died than last year's power tool death toll in the UK. Travelling at six times the regular speed limit through small villages has its risks but until they ban Makitas the gladiators at the TT fight on.

Trojan Horse are the only place I've seen that do stuff for the XB range.

I'm in the uk and can tell you that in the 3 years of owning a bike I've only ever seen 2 buells......

And one of them is parked in my garage!!!!

I can tell you though that Trojan Horse seem to be very polite, and swift with answers to questions and parts, I requested some info and it arrived within 24hours through the post.

I'll be ordering stuff from them very soon I think.

Grufflie-Sounds like you thought this out a bit. I couldn't quite figure out how the Europeans came to embrace the American street fighter. Trojan Horse and Hillbilly are coming up with the stuff you would think an American company would come up with. Hey Daves, which cheese grater eliminator do you have in stock? I'd love to see it.
