People on this board really seem to like these mufflers. What is the difference, performance wise, between a Buell race pipe and a Special Ops pipe.

I am currently running the Buell race pipe/Race ECM/K&N combo. I think I've built a top end performer when I was really wanting to build a mid range bike. Will the Special Ops pipe help my mid range? Anyone experience problems with the exhaust valve in the Special Ops pipe? Thanks in advance for answering some n00b questions.

You should go to americansportbike.com and read there exhaust shootout.

In my opinion if you are looking for midrange you should go with the D&D. That is what i am planning on doing when i get a chance.

I had the race can then installed special ops pipe! LOVE IT!

Sounds meaner and the power does kick in a little sooner. With the race pipe once it hits about 4K she really pushed back, with the special ops it doesnt push back at 4k, but rather spreads the power out a bit more.

Buy the special ops and sell the race can. You will make profit on the deal!

I have a video somewhere but the audio quality sucks!

P.S. All power testing performed via butt dyno :-)

I run a race can and like the way it performs. I love the sound of the Special Ops pipe though. I'd love to trade someone....

+1 on that. You might want to look at the drummer too.

The D&D is really just a big noise maker. It will give you the midrange the other won't but you will sacrifice a chunk on the top for HP. Been there done that and put another Drummer on. Have a race kit muffler on 9 also and really have no complaints.

I just read the exhaust shootout. Sounds like the power is going to come on more towards where I want it to (not top end like the Buell Race Muffler).

How much is a used Buell Race muffler worth? Would Badweb be the best place to sell it? Thanks for the comments folks!

excuse my ignorance, but whats with special ops hype? What are its power points? Because to me, its the stock exhaust without the back resonance chaimber, how much good can come from that?

Does anyone have a diagram of the difference between the stock exhaust's path and the special ops exhaust's path, I know they're different?

i had a d&d and didnt like it so i traded it for a drummer. I love it. The sound is great and gave me more power than the d&d. My buddy toona has a special ops and it brings out even more low end power with a great sound. Cant beat the price.

They go for big bucks on EBAY, that's where I would try but I think they do good on here too.

1+++ on the spec ops.
Sounds great (though I've lost my stealth capabilities) and the power increase is across the whole range. It even pulls more just off idle.
No exhaust valve issues.

Has anyone gotten one of these, i am heavily considering this one, seems like he's got a great pipe like Odie, and possibly like Drummer when he got started.... Same pricing as Odie, does a stainless outlet like Drummer and maintains the functional Exhaust valve on the 12....... Sounds AWESOME!!!!!

Theres no dyno runs that can back up those mufflers performance, You don't even know what your getting. With Spec-Ops and Drummer you do.

I'll keep that in mind if i build a race bike... for me its the "Seat o' the pants" dyno i am concerned about, for fun in the twisties and on the street. When Drummer and Odie got started they didn't have dyno runs right off the bat.... I'm all about putting my money into somebody who does it for the passion, not that Kevin or Odie don't. thats why they got started. Thats why i bought Odie's pipe for my first buell. I'm not saying anyone is better than the other, i was just putting it out there to get opinions from someone who's got a Voodoo Pipe.
For the Record, I am A BIG fan of Odie's work, when it comes down to it, I'll be getting a pipe from either Odie or Voodoo.

Thats because you Tattoo are the one that makes the muffler and you sponsor another forum. So you link threads to your product.

I also would like to see dyno info for this pipe vs stock. "Seat of pants" is great but I know the rpm range that I ride the majority of the time so the dyno information would be very useful.

1100rpm to 6500rpm. Power band clean and wicked. #1 choice
