I've heard a lot of bad things about open pipes on Buells...mostly that there's considerable Air/Fuel issues and dips in the torque curve. But for looks and sound, I don't think I'm alone here when I say I daydream about how to make this possible. I fell in love with the exhaust design on Roland Sands' Hypermotard and I'm trying to figure out what similar design I could do to my Buell.....don't get alarmed, I'm not gonna start chopping my bike up, I'm still in the daydreaming stage here! Has anyone seen or heard of this done to a XB12? See pic below! |

I see a 12R at one of the Harley dealerships here in Washington that has twin pipes that run all the way back and exit under the tail light. No muffler. Just long pipes. Never heard it. I hadn't seen that Hypermotard before. Looks cool without the beak. |

now what you see here boys and girls is the look of the cookie cutters that found its way onto a buell, shame on him.... Up next kids, we are going to see squibbies that wear shorts, a ball park hat, and foakley sunglasses for 'rydin in style' all in good fun, nice look there, looks like you can be cooking your right thigh |

I have seen a few str8 pipes on xbs imho u will loose power But if you want loud, str8 is the way 2 go Old drag racer trick: Make loooooong pipe, mount, run till pipes blue, then trim off the part that did not blue. Then presto, u have a ghetto tuned str8 pipe. |

Oh, sure! Think of all those glorious rootbeer brown Hondas from the '70s. Fine bikes they were. |

I have the Force pipe on mine, closest to a production straight pipe you can get. F'N LOUD! Had it for about 10k miles so far and no probs. You might say I don't exactly baby it either........ |

I saw a polished frame XB with some wicked pearl green and black paint and unfortunately it had an extended swing arm. Its was up at Bel Air plaza for Turkey Rod Run last night in Daytona. It sounded bad ass with straight pipes. |

This is the force pipe gen 1. I've got the gen 2 version and powdercoated black on my 12R.

Other than the polishing, that bike looks really good. I have not seen that exhaust before- the headers are similar to the XBRR. What does it look like on the other side? |

Well strait pipes was a too big of a project for me this weekend, so I made my bike louder another way. There was just enough room under the shield to remove the stock moped-sounding horn and install dual Crown Victoria horns. It sounds awesome and LOUD! Never again will I be ashamed to blow my horn at some a$$hole driver!! The best part about this mod is it was free! See before/after videos at http://www.bikemovies.com/movie/009884/ and http://www.bikemovies.com/movie/009885/ |
