Was down at the dealers today looking at the '09s. (Price increase in Canada on Monday, act fast.)

Somebody there was looking at the Lightning air box and made a remark about putting led lights in there.

Has anybody tried that?

We did that on a translucid blue (hero blue?) 9sx a couple years ago. Got a set of the little Harley light pods, stuck them on the inside of the X-guard pointed down at the inner airbox, looked really cool. Added a couple under the frame pointed down at the engine, really filled it out. We also put one behind the flyscreen, but the LEO's didn't like that, LOL.

ya i've done it on my 07 xb12s. it looks awsome in low light. turns heads at every stop light. you can actually see when it hits them that its not a gas tank. real easy to do to. i cut out the right side to match the left side. spliced in to the wire intended for my licence plate light. ran the wire under the seat through a small hole i drilled in a concealed spot of the air box cover and then positioned the lights to shine directly on the air filter. during the day you can't tell at all, but at dusk it becomes quite cool. now i have heard some say that cutting the extra panels out of the airbox cover is bad for it, but i havn't had any problems related to it as of yet. i do have some mods done, (race ecm, exaust)so maybe that is why it's not having any problems...? looks cool though.

I did this about three years ago. Put red led lights under air box cover and inside air intake and a few other spots. They still all work with no problems from all the bike shaking.

I run orange on my 9r. Bought a bunch of light bars and a switch. 3M makes what's basically poster tape. I cleaned all the areas the lights were going and the tape holds them fine. I put the switch on the left side relay cover where there's an empty slot so it didn't hit any relays. You see no wire...no light bars.

I've also done countless H/D cruisers. People tend to like my job better than the guy in the tent at bike shows....

I have been wondering the same. I have been thinking of taking the light kit out of my computer and putting it on my bike to see how it lasts.

It takes a lot of light to be noticable. I played with a few... license plate lights were packaged nicely and easy to bolt on (and $4 each at the auto parts store), but did not add much under the translucid blue.

So whatever you put in, it will probably take more light then you think.

Reepiecheep, you might try using a cree emitter. Some of the new cheap flashlights at Lowes are using them now. Dealextreme.com sells just the emitters pretty cheap. They are very bright and very efficient. Iam sure they could be wired in somehow.

I've check the law for Texas, and pretty much every colors are a GO except blue and red, as because those colors are for 'Service vehicles'.... you cant have red in the front of the vehicle (back is fine if they are working brake lights) and you cannot have blue anywhere on the vehicle.... im sure the law is about the same moreorless around the US

and me amber lights are all set, no problems so far for me

though blue is bad mojo, bend the rules.... you can place a white light in the airbox and it will seem blue on the outside, that outta work out.
If anyone has that setup in the air box, show some picks!!!

Awww, you guys didn't like the light show?

Don't hate.

I thought it looked pretty slick, so did everyone up at Homecoming.

Although, not as good as that guy dressed up as an intergalactic grape-smuggler...
