you will just have to make a minor adjustment to the hole for the lock cylinder in the tail. the are turned differently and the cable runs different.

just one new little notch in a different location in the lock hole. you will see it when you look. notice how the lock sits in your xb tail and make sure you get the lock put in the new tail the same way.

if that makes any sense...

to put an xb tail on an 1125 requires a little grinding of the tail by the foot peg mounts as the bottom mounting tabs are different also.

I was going to say that the airbox cover will only work on 05 & older XBs, the ones with air through the frame but I see from your profile you have an 03 so you'll be fine with that airbox cover : )

Have you upgraded your inner airbox cover yet?
That 9R will really benefit from the present style inner cover with the inverted nipple.

Not quite.
The inner cover on the 03 & 04 9R & 9S were flat on top.

The 12R & 12S came out in 04 and they had a newer design that had an inverted nipple (pointing down toward the velocity cone) that smoothed out the air flow and better directed it into the throttle body.

In 05 the 9R & 9S came stock with this newer style inner cover.

This new inner cover gave small hp gains to the 9 and also reduced mid power dip.

I believe the open airbox kit from American Sport Bike has the inverted nipple so if you have the means to tune your bike for it (or buy a map for it) that would probably be the best option power wise.

Most affordable is the Buell inner cover which is about $40 the last time I checked a year or two ago.

If it's too closed up for you, you can always swiss cheese it like your original old style one : )
