I made a set but they are held on with a stud running through the axle. It makes sense though to put it somewhere other than the rear axle for wheel removal. Im just not sure where it could go.

So, again, we have the weekly stand thread.

I was going to ask, seeing as I have to get a stand for storage, how do the non spool stands work for rear tire removal? They look like they would slide up the swingarm.

(sorry, that sounded rude, wasn't meant to.)

I have used the Pit-Bull stand and to stop the sliding I drilled and tapped a hole on each side of the swingarm that I screwed a 1/4 20 shoulder bolt into. Works awesome and was a fast easy mod. Just make sure you drill the hole far enough forward so you can get at the pinch bolt.

Just remember not to go too far forward - there's an oil tank in there.

Something about drilling into the swingarm just scares me.

I have done this as well as drilling into the top to mount a chain guide to three Buell XB's. A 2003 XB9R race bike, a 2003 XB9R street bike, and a 2005 XB12R trackday/race/street bike. Not one problem with any of them and the stand is 100% secure.

think nothing of it

the pitbull has rubber shoes so it doesnt slip much.
I have had it fall over on me though: because I was moving the bike's front wheel from left to right checking my bearings, and somehow when I was moving the head left to right several times, the rear end started to inch itself off the stand. KaPlunk!!! The other day I had crashed the bike and oil spilled all over the left side, weeks later using the pitbull, and rubber does not work with oil, and it slipped right off. Im clumsy

Personally if you're not lacking dexterity and grace, its the best thing to get.... or go all the way and set up some straps & eyebolts

I have seen buells around here that have welded up some threaded-holes on each side of the axle (and spray painted over to look stock), to then screw in a some bolts when they wanted to jack it up

in the "an amazing buell" thread in the quick board section, i saw jodie's tuber with xb fork and swingarm. it looks like he has spools on there that will allow wheel removal. (awesome bike, by the way!). i can't tell much detail from the pics i have found. there are a bunch of pages in his build thread, but my insanely slow dialup has limited my searching, so i haven't looked at all the posts yet. i had read the posts in the other "stand" thread about the 1/4 inch bolts up into the bottom, but didn't ever find a good pic of them either. i got the pitbull stands (not here yet), and the rear has little spuds with ribbed rubber on them. it really looks like the swingarm would want to slide back down them pretty bad. maybe it won't be as bad as i am thinking. lots of folks evidently use them as-is. thanks for all the help!

Clean the bottom of the swingarm really good. Go buy some skate board type grip tape. Cut tape into strips and stick on the bottom of the swingarm. No more sliding. Mine has been there for 4 years!

Yeah that's a pretty good idea.

I cut up an inner tube from my fiddy and stretched it over the swingarm supports on the bike stand.....
