I bought an 06 xb9sx last week. I'm really excited and happy that I bought the bike, but I'm not thrilled that I bought it in November. It was 35 degrees and snowing a little bit today. I was riding it around my neighborhood today and I was freezing. (I live in SE Michigan)

I got a good deal on the bike, but now I cant wait for the weather to warm up.

yes, the choice you have made is much like the one i made 2 years ago.

i picked my '06 cityX up on December 12th at 7:30 at night temp was a balmy 14 degrees and i grinned for the whole 45 min ride home even though i was in complete agony.

good luck with the new bike, your gonna love it.

Well, spend all the money on the accessories now...I think they call those things "winter mods" in your parts. Not to rub it in, but I wouldn't know...I live in Florida. No such thing as snow/winter.

I bought in September of 06 a 2006 XB9SX. I put 1500 miles on it, in 1 month. I was then rear ended, It sat at the dealership for over a month waiting on parts. Finally in November I got it back, only to be welcomed by snow and freezing temps. Ahhh got to love the North.

Just practice sitting on it, and thinking up of cool things to say when people ask "what is that?" "is it fast?", "is it a moped?" "is that Italian?" or my favorite "ohh yea it has a Sportster motor right?"

I have winter clothes, but I wouldn't think they'd do well in below freezing weather at 70mph+.

you bought at the right time of year. I've noticed the prices of motos drop as the weather gets cooler.

You need to buy some electric clothes. Gerbings is supposed to be good stuff. I have an Aerostich roadcrafter that I want to put some of the Gerbings in this winter. I figure that I'm over 40 and that means I can wear electric stuff without anyone making fun of me. Except that wise a$$ son of mine.

Get a good pair of gloves and boots. It sucks if your hands or feet get cold. I'd recommend some heated gloves for you.

When it gets cold here in north central Florida, I tend to ride slower. I can handle 35-40 degrees at 55mph, but when you hit 70, the temp drops 20 degrees.

Get on the bike and head south. You can be in warm weather in about 12 hours. : )

Did the same thing last year on my STT. Sat in the garage all winter, too much snow and ice to ride. I saved a bucket of cash buying it them! But it made for a LONG winter. I did get out a handful of times.

BTW it's snowing in NE Indiana right now. So looks like MY riding time just got cut way down.

Welcome to the addiction, I have had my 08 12R since June, and still cannot get enough of the bike. I was out yesterday in 35-40* weather rocking sweatpants underneath my leather pants, and like 4 layers of sweatshirts under my jacket, along with a balaclava, the only thing that got cold were my hands.
