first stab at it, and im not that mechanically inclined.... but to me it sounds like either one of the intake valves arnt closing fully, thus allowing the poping in the intake manafold and not fully in the engine

correct me anyone? just an uneduicated guess

Do you still have the Valve in your muffler? sounds like the solenoid that controls it (in the air box) is making the noise, maybe it is loose or something

Nope, and nope.

It is a lean cough. A type of backfire, back through the intake.

Has the intake or exhaust system been modified at all, or is it still stock?

Are we talking about the hiccup? If so, every buell will do it. I think it's because of loading the piston with too much gas and it backfires through the intake. Mine has not done it in a while, but when it did do it, it would happen when I would rev the throttle when engine braking.

Assuming stock bike:
#1. Set timing ('07 and earlier)
#2. Reset TPS
#3. Check for intake leaks

Some will do it more than others, I'm afraid. You can also thank the EPA. ECMspy tuning can resolve the issue.

Yes its a stock bike, no mods... I was told ECMspy would not work on 08 or later bikes

From what i understand 09 bikes don't need tps reset. It is all controlled by the ecu.

My 08 12 R did the same thing followed by it falling on its face. I took mine in for the latest ECM reflash, problem solved. The dealer told me that on the 1000 mile service that they hook it up to the computer to check for updates. Hope this helps.
