alright! i will admit to being totally ignorant of any 'motorcycle stand' knowledge, right up front!

i am interested in a front and rear stand that will make it easy to remove my own wheels, in the comfort of my own home, errr, basement.

i am assuming that the front stands that have a big 'wishbone' with a pin that goes into the bottom of the steer-tube in the middle of the triple tree is what i need up front.

i have read about 'spools' that go on your swing arm in the rear, and then the stand catches them. is that what you do on a xb9s? do they sell a different set of 'hook-ups' for an xb-type swingarm? i definitely want to be able to remove the rear wheel/tire (not just use it for storage).

what are the pros and cons of pitbull and t-rex. it seems that most people like the pitbulls and some folks bash the t-rex. neither website offers any real information at all.

post up some pics! help a brother out here. i need real info!

thanks in advance for your time and patience!

I really like my T-rex set.
Perhaps if i was going to use them every day or race i'd consider dropping the extra money for pitbulls.

mine are very rigid with the bike on them and the black powdercoat finis looks good and is holding up just fine.

My front uses a pin in the steering head, the rear can either sit the swingarm on it or spools (if i'm not changing the tire)

No pics at the moment, but my bike spent most of last winter an a month of this summer sitting on them (plenty of pics at home)

Yay! 5th thread this week on stands!

The XB does not have spools like most of the Japanese repli-racers. You can get spools built into the slider from Dark Horse Moto but they are more for convenience than anything, as you can't use them for a tire removal. You will need to use the swingarm part of the stands to hold the rear of the bike by the swingarm.

The front use the pin that goes into the tree, as if you use the fork holder it will block the axle.

The T-rex are great quality, the Pit-bulls are excellent quality. Both get the job done and are great products. Are you willing to pay double for slightly better quality? If so, then go Pit-Bull. If you are content with buying the slightly less quality but still great quality and saving money, then go T-rex.

I got T-rex and have no complaints.

A friend gave me an Idea to make make a custom stand that would mount where the foot pegs mount. I have yet to look at the frame and it might be best designed but I like the idea.

Pit Bull, I have not one complaint. The one that goes in the steering stem up front and a FORWARD handle rear (standard). The forward handle leaves the floor behind the bike clear for walking or whatever. It saves me a bunch of room in my garage. I have drilled a small hole in the bottom of the swingarm on both sides (forward enough for the stand to clear the pinch bolt)and tapped it 1/4,20 and just screwed in a small shoulder bolt, it works great. I use my rear stands to transport my bikes as well, I just put the bikes up on the stands and strap them down pulling the bike and the stand backwards against the wall of my van. Then I forget about them and drive like an imbecile and they hold up great.

Skinstains, do you have the Dark Horse spools in your rear axle? If so, did you use your Pit Bull rear stand with forward facing handle to lift using the spools? I just received my Pit Bull stand and the cross bar hits the front of the rear wheel before the "V" fits into the spools. My supplier is looking into this, but it's always good to get Bueller advice. Have you, or anyone, faced this problem? It seems that there should be an extension to both upright lifting arms to solve this problem.

thanks for all the info. i went down to the local japanese-bike shop and they have pitbulls, so i got to look them over and talk to the guy about them. i totally understand the front one now. i still have a question about the rear one. it has brackets that have the v-notch one one side (for the spools), or you can turn them around and they have a horizontal pin about 1 1/2 inches long with a red rubber boot thing on it. the guy at the shop said that is the side i would use. do you just put it under there and hope for the best?

i am thinking that skinstains has put small bolts up into the bottom of the swing arm (temporarily) to keep the pegs from scooting forward under the swingarm. am i correct? anybody got a pic of the rear pitbull under an xb?

thanks for the link to the xb on the t-rex stands. i can see how it holds it.

T-Rex is the way I'm going to go. But they emailed me and said they won't have any until next week.
