I've read a ton of stuff hear and on other boards about Drummer and Special Ops mufflers. I've read where people have had to repack their Drummer. But don't ever remember reading about anyone saying that they have for their Special Ops. Or even heard them say that it has gotten louder over time. Is there even any muffler packing in a Special Ops. Just curious. Not trying to put down anyones products. I have great respect for both Kevin and Odie.

Tatoo are you sure it wasn't the Jardine that you read about that need repack? Cause like Glitch said I don't think there is packing in either of the drummer or spec ops.

I'm positive that the Drummer has packing. I've seen inside a Drummer and there is a fiberglass style packing in there. Of course this was the Drummer with the aluminum end cap.

From what i remember the drummer has packing but it doesnt need to be repacked much. maybe once or twice in its lifetime.

Spec ops has no packing in it.

Either way you go I think you will love either of these pipes!

I have a special ops and LOVE it!

That pipe is one of the few things that makes me say..."damn, I love my XB" after getting of my buddies 09 1125CR :-)

Yeah, A drummer may need to be repacked. Put about 40,000 miles on your bike and it might be ready.

both good, no repacking needed according to either maker's websites. both will outlast the bike more 'n likely.

A little trick I learned from Odie... Reverse the rear muffler straps (the nuts will be showing on the left side) and it is much more easy to take the muffler on and off.

I have two Drummers, one on a 9R that sounds like a rattle if you pick it up and shake it. Not the mufflers fault, it has been put through the ringer a couple of times (really abused and neglected). It does have some sort of glass in it though or did anyway as it is coming out of the holes and the fatlet. The one on my 12R hasn't been treated as roughly as the 9's but it has been whomped on pretty bad and it is still in one piece so I don't know if there's packing in it or not.

I've had my Spec Ops for about a week and it is everything I expected. Odie will take care of you! I don't know about Drummer though.

Slightly off topic but here goes. To those who have the Spec Ops, how is the sound on the highway for the long haul? In other words is it tiring or tolerable?

Odie is great to work with.
The pipe sound is awesome.
Going down the highway, I wear earplugs (more for wind noise) and so the sound is fine.
I've heard Drummers too and I like the deep thuddy sound also. Just so happened that I got the Ops pipe.

As far as the packing, I haven't opened one up.
