XB9-R By the way. Speedo lights up, the needles do their thing on start up, but the speedo wont move when your rolling, miles dont clock up either. Rev counter is fine. Anyone suggest anything?? Other than go to a dealer to get it sorted would like to have a crack myself. Anyone else had this problem? | ||

Well if it is under warranty take her back. Even if not I belive (if they are a good dealer) and it has only beed One day they should take care of it for ya. If not replace your speedo sensor. Sounds like that is the problem. | ||

can I do it myself?? I cant seem to see anything under the front fairing, looks bloody chokka under there. Is it just a plug? Could it have just come lose please tell me i don't have to remove anything to look at the connection. | ||

Look at the top of the tranny area behind the front cylinder, assuming you can see that area on an XB configuration. Takes me about 15 minutes to do the M2's, have no idea how long it takes on an XB. Tranny plug on one end with a magnet, electrical connector on the other end. The new version of the sensor assembly is supposed to be different but nobody has posted a pic or a copy of the instructions yet so I have no idea what the new one looks like except that it costs a little over $75 vs around $50 for the old ones. But if at all possible, take it in and get it warranty swapped. Why spend your own money, been there, done that, not no more. But be forewarned, if the warranty check procedure is the same as it was in the past it will take two trips to the shop to get them to fix it: Step 1 - clean off the end of the plug and reinstall; Step 2 - replace the sensor assembly after testing all other speedo components. For one person I know this took four trips to the shop and over two weeks to get it resolved, times 3. | ||

On the XB, you will need to remove the plastic belt guard that goes around the front sprocket. Then the speedo sensor is held in by one allen head bolt. It just has a plug connector. Takes about 10 minutes to change. | ||

UGH. I called Buell Customer service trying to clear this up. They were as helpful as possible, but did not really solve the problem. They indicated the current part number for the sensor is 74402-95B. This was released on 9/29/03. We don't yet know if this is the regulated / filtered one, or not. Anybody seen one of these critters yet? Does it have an extra bulge somewhere? Anybody know if it is regulated? Annonys... HELP! | ||

I thought Bubba had one in and had given a verbal verification that it came with installation instructions in some sort of cryptic message to Court a month or so ago. I'd really like to see them instructions. | ||

The guard is just held on with a couple of small bolts. I think these are star bolts. You can use the tool that is in the toolkit to get them out. | ||

I might possibly know someone whos friends, brothers, sisters, boyfriends, grandma had the same problem, and it took about 5000-6000 miles to fix. I hope it doesn't take that long to get your speedo fixed  | ||

One of the star bolts is inset to deep for the tool provided in the tool kit to reach it, been there done that. | ||
