Buddy of mine shopping around for bike with high fun factor like my 12s which he has ridden, and liked.He now rides a BMWk1200rs. Very nice bike but boring to ride, very large. Stopped in Ducati shop to test ride. We both rode Monster 998(i think) and 1098 super motard. IMO Monster power not enough below 4500rpm to high strung. 1098 better down low still to high strung for my in and out left and right riding style. Felt like I was sitting on a skate board. Track riding might be OK, real world holigan street riding no thanks, I'll keep my Buell. My friend has now been cured of the high priced valve job Ducatis and others like it.Now shopping for his very own Buell. | ||

Yeah I would agree with on the air cooled Ducs. I don't know what people see in them. The superbikes on the other hand are incredible! If they were not so expensive to maintain I'd get one. | ||

tell your friend to test ride a mv augusta brutale or a f4.They have them for around 12 grand brand new down here in southwest florida and they are badass naked bikes.If I was going to buy a 12k bike I gotta be honest I wouldnt buy a buell I would buy a brutale.Before you all flame me I love my buell but I always wanted a mv augusta ever since I could ride and first seen one.Im shure everybody has a bike like that in their head whether its a buell or not. I king of liked the ride on the hypermotard when I test road one this summer but I didn't want to pay for the maintenance. An other naked bike I really like but can't afford is the Benelli TNT | ||

Just recently I went shopping for a new bike and after visiting a Ducati store I was given a brochure and it stated that 2007 models and on have been redesigned to reduce the maintenance. | ||

Yeah I would agree with on the air cooled Ducs. I don't know what people see in them. Ummm... aside from valve adjustments and a chain, air-cooled Ducatis are an Italian version of a Buell (or more correctly- the other way around). I don't see how someone could like the Sportster-powered Buells and not like the desmodue Ducatis. I consider my Buells and Ducatis kindred spirits- air-cooled lumps with excellent chassis and bring-a-tear-to-your-eye exhaust notes. They're both simple, reliable, and easy to maintain. The desmodue valve adjustment only takes a couple of hours for non-mechanics to complete- and the interval has been extended to 7,500 miles. It's really the only Ducati engine I'm interested in owning. The testretta Ducati engines are a completely different animal. Sure, they have a lot of power, but it's pretty much like owning a race engine- maintenance intensive and expensive. Those models cannot be compared to the air-cooled 2-V bikes... I sure wouldn't want one without a Ducati tech on the payroll. | ||

I really just do not like Ducati because I do not like the manhatten guy I never liked the guy and I like mostly everyone he is not a staight shooter. He used to work at Trebour suzuki, Triumph, Ducati his people were the kind of guys we were goofing on when hammeroid posted picks of them The HOLLYWOOD CHICKS these guys were like. I treat everyone cool unless your are oriental and asking dumb questions at o dark thirty on a rainy morning at Bear mountain. They were the kind of guys I JUST LOVE to leave scratching their arse saying who was that fat guy that just ripped by and what kind of motorcycle was that? Other than that the bikes aint bad.Oh yeah and the NY IMS guy kept yelling at me not to touch the prototype hypermotard a few years ago I mean WTF why is it on display he yells hey don't touch that now. I ask you friends after that staement what would your next three moves be? Me too the cops were almost called after I touched the bike like a thousand more times just to piss him off | ||

I like 'em.  IMO Monster power not enough below 4500rpm to high strung. that's the point of oversquare engines.And mine is geared really low in first so for max acceleration.They're perfectly happy running at 6000 RPM. | ||

Friend test rode 1125 cr today.I think he is hooked. His comments.Nice flat power band bottom to top rpm and a lot of it,felt very predictable and precise and not twitchy, effortless to turn. Price a bit more affordable for a toy. Now I have to go ride one myself. Damn it... | ||

Not a state of repair.A state of "Tinkering". A state of supertuning for maximum power out of an overengineered engine platform. Right NOW My  buds expect to ride today.I'll ride Buell.Likely,the tuber. This guy is definately unbiased For me,back in '02 the Ducati was a protest purchase because Buell introduced the XB and NOT the 1125r.Now i NEED an 1125r.Just do not know how to fit it.
