03 Firebolt XB9r So was checking my oil today and I noticed that it was a little low. Then i remembered that i had noticed a little bit of oil on my left riding boot from when i rode a couple days ago. My best guess is that oil is leaking out that filter above the oil cooler. So my question is, what is the exact purpose of that filter? And where to get a new one? thanks

What filter near the oil cooler? It sounds like you have an aftermarket catch can on your bike. Your catch can takes the oil and gunk that would of normally been puked into your airbox and puts it in the catch can that you empty out once in a while. Sounds like you haven't emptied it in a while and its leaking out the filter.

The filter i'm talking about is in your pic. Just behind the oil cooler, and above the support arm. Mine looks different but same purpose. Heres a pic.

Looks like a breather/catch can thing, or a crappy emissions canister delete job.

Yep odds are its the American Sport Bike catch can! There is a petcock on the bottom, open er up once in a while to drain it out. : )
