OK, trying to install the FACTORY heated grips on to an 06 XB12Ss. Everything was going smoothly till the time came to get power from the "gray power accessory plug".

Doesn't look like the 06 has this plug. Anybody else out there installed the factory kit on an 06? There is nothing year/model specific in the install lit.

OY!

The plug is on 08+ models. You have to splice into something to get power, I used the euro headlight bulb line.

Hey Itchy,

I put the factory heated grips on my 05 Bolt. I did it real nice like by soldering in the plug that the 08 and later ones have. I can't remember if the plug that goes on the bike side came with the grip kit but I doubt it. It's really neat as now I can just un-plug them in the warm weather and put on my cheap non-heated ones so that if my bike does go down I won't ruin the spensive ones. I can't remember what I spliced in to but I will look tomorrow and let you know. Make sure you splice into something that turns off with the key.

i took a line off the ignition relay (not the starter) and went to one of the spare fuses in the box. and i just grounded it to one of the bolts under the flyscreen.

I used the power wire from the unused parking lamp between the High and Low Beam.

Hey skinstains- do you have a part number for that plug? I think that might be the best route for me to follow.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

No I don't but I probably have an extra. I can put it in the mail tomorrow for you if I do. I will let you know this evening if I have one and what I tied in to. As far as I'm concerned it was the only way to go. Nice, neat, and easily removable for the reasons stated earlier.

Hey Itchy, I'm heading out to the garage now. I will find out if I have the plug and what it's hooked up to.

Hey Itchy, I went out to the garage and switched from my summer to winter grips. While doing that I took notice of the plug, both male and female. I looked in my parts stash and had no match. Sorry. I then realized that I must have bought the plug from the dealer. I guess I made them look to find the "grey accessory plug" from a Uly and ordered it. It may come as a sub-harness or something like that. I do think it's worth it though as it only takes me a few minutes to switch back and forth between my regulars and my heated ones.
