I just checked the tire pressure on both front and rear tires. Both tires were down 12+ psi. The last time I checked them was about 2 months ago. This doesn't seem like a long enough time period for that amount of pressure loss. It has been getting a bit colder here in WI, plus I haven't been riding her that much as of late. Any thoughts? How often should I be checking the pressure ?

I tell you what though , wheelies are a hell of a lot easier with air in the tires!

The only thing you can do is fill them back up, let a couple days pass (if not riding) or after a ride. Then check them again. And do so for awhile. If the both tiers went down its prob nothing to worry about.

Hey Bone... I check my tire pressure on almost every ride. Takes a few sec. I always have a pressure gage with some change $ to fill it up if needed.

Pretty sure it's the weather... air pressure and temperature changes. I just checked my Mustang a few days ago, and since the weather has cooled off I've lost ~10 lbs per tire.

A change in temperature will change pressures.

An overlooked aspect of this problem is the lowly tire valve and valve stem cap.

It is a good idea to tighten or replace the tire valves from time to time if tires seem to be losing pressure too rapidly.

Using good quality caps can help, and keeping them tight is a good idea too.

Unless one has 90º valve stems, when the tire rotates, centrifugal force tends to open the valves a tiny bit, so good valves and caps can be more important than people may think.

12lbs in 2 months sounds about right

Motorcycle tires loose air much faster than car tires. Higher inflation pressures, thinner tire depth, ... ?

Check tire pressures at the very least monthly.
