I've had my XB 12 for a couple of weeks now. I've placed 350 miles on it, and seems to be idling pretty hard. is this normal or should HD take a look at it?

Describe hard. Difficulty idling? Just needs the adjustment bumped back up to around 1000 rpm via the knob behind the left side scoop.

08+ has the idle controlled by the ECM.

It's a hard vibration. Most people say something about it when I start er up. It shakes pretty good. My blinkers bobble. Where exactly is the adjustment located on the bike? Im pretty green in all this, and by the way thanks for the help.

First time I rode my XB9R to my Dad's house he said:

"Is it SUPPOSED to shake like that? I think the timing might be off...."

Yeah, she is supposed to shake like a wet dog locked in a beer cooler.

yea, the shaking is normal, and no, you can't adjust the idle on '08 and newer bikes.
Froggy is right, the idle is controlled by the ECM.

LOL! I like your Dog illustration! So if its the timing... Does that work itself out or is it part of the 1000 mile service? Or should I just have HD take a look at it? It runs well.. pudders sometimes but not often.

My XB just likes to do a little Katharine Hepburn imitation while at idle, that's normal HD V twin stuff. The clever Isoplaner system will smooth it right out on the go.

Littleman what your describing is perfectly normal. There's nothing to work out they just shake.

It's normal. It will shake less once its broken in. Remember, its a 45 degree V twin!

If it's an 09 it's under warranty. It's probably just doing the normal idle dance. But since it's under warranty next time you're near the dealer drop in and ask. Can't hurt.

If it runs fine otherwise, at 350mi I wouldn't worry. Should idle at 1050rpm. If that's where it is idling, all is good. One caution, you are not blipping the throttle during warm-up, are you? Can lead to plug fouling, which will cause issues.

yes it is normal to shake just like everyone else has stated. you must remember there is only TWO cylinders in that engine...the fewer cylinders of an engine the rougher the idle, the more cylinders the smoother the idle....thats just basic physics of a piston engine. could you imagine what it would shake like if it idled at 600 rpm? hahaha

Yard, I got my idle set to about 700-750, its not much jumpier than 1050, but it sounds sooo much better. My electronics hate it, because the stator is putting out no juice that low. I did have it at 600 once, but it was too hard to keep running when the engine was cold.

The shaking is cool. It seems like the engine is a locked up felon and is trying to get free while the chassis is the oppressive law trying to keep it all under control. Power struggle.

Thanks fellas... I'm new to the bike world, so all your input is great. Once the bike starts moving it all good!
