I'm still trying to wrap my head around the pieces I would need to put an R fairing on my Ss. I've already been given a parts list, but I was just curious: how the heck does the fairing stay work? I've sat on 'Bolts before, so I know the front fairing doesn't move, so how exactly does it attach to the frame? I scoped my bike out, and I can't imagine how it's done....?

It mounts to the steering head on your frame. The same two bolts that hold your head light on your bike now.

2 bolts on the front of the head tube tie the fairing stay to the chassis.

The fairing bolts to the stay under the turn signals on the bottom and under the mirrors on the top

Pic would be better - don't know if that made any sense

"The same two bolts that hold your head light on your bike now."

You're right about the frame part, but his headlights bolt to the fork.

Here's a crappy picture of my bike after I wiped it out. You can see where the mount bolts to the frame.

Ah, I think I see it. There's a mounting spot on the frame where the steering head goes through, right? Thanks, that helps!

I was told I would need an R brake line. Does it have to be routed differently or something?

If anything I would think the SS brake line is longer because of the higher bars, I dont see why you would need the R one.

Hey, BTW, with single mounting point like that, does the R fairing vibrate? Seems like it'd shake pretty bad, like the S handlebars...?

Swordsman - there's enough difference in the XBS versus XBR front brakelines to make it worth the extra $20-30. When I mocked up the XBR front end on my XBS, then extra brakeline length was a problem. Much simpler to change the brakeline to XBR than hassle with routing around and interference with the XBR front fairing mount.

That's why I included the brake line in And the "Lightning-Bolt" parts list. But give the it a shot: you might find a way to tame that XBS brake line with the new setup.

I don't notice it, really. I can still easily read my gauges, that might be because the gauge cluster mounts to the fairing stay with rubber isolators....I know the turn signals vibrate like the little tickler on top of those "rabbit" vibrators

Hmmm.... dunno if you should be admitting your familiarity with robotic penises, Zpyro!
