I think my exhaust valve is stuck again. Engine light is on and the cable in the air box doesn't seem to be moving. They replaced the actuator last time (last month). What would happen if I just disconnected it in the open position? If I could afford it I would put on a drummer and disconnect it. This will be the 3rd time in 3 months my bike is going in the shop for a warranty issue. I love my bike but this is f-n up my ridding time.

What would happen if the shop checked for codes?

Or you?

check out how to read the codes yourself, find out what code is being displayed and post it here.

Bit of hassle, something new to learn but, I would bet, it takes less time than the bike will spend in the shop. That equals more ride time. And the satisfaction add more smiles per miles.

The shop didn't have time to check codes. I don't know how to myself. I got the factory manual, does it say in there? Paper clip? BTW You're right. I should learn how to do it myself.

After first time I wired mine in the full open position. 8000mi. Sounds better, seat of pants cant tell any perfomance loss, may be a bit better half to WOT. Today I took a old bar mounted choke lever from old BSA fabbed cable and bracket to attach to actuator. Now I have manual control of exhaust valve. Closed for low rpm sensible riding,(not much of that)open when time to have fun.
