Just wondering how much difference there was made on the XB's by installing the factory race kit on a 1200? And when was the last year that Buell had them available? Anyone with a web sight or page with the actually stats of this please do tell.

I have one on my 2004 XB12R. I bought it that way so I can't compare. Exhaust sounds better than a stocker I know.

They're faster because they're louder...

Personally, the old Butt Dyno reported more throttle response, and a bit more torque, but no huge gains. The reappearance of the mid-range torque dip makes them feel like they're coming on the cam more, but in fact, it's just a hole in the torque, and then it comes back.

Now, if they'd built a race pipe using the exhaust valve....

You have to remember the race kit was designed for track applications, not the street. The pipe is designed to run in the upper rpm range and save some weight, thus no need for an interactive valve.

The race kit on my track bike works perfectly.

One more thing. It'll be difficult to find the complete kit, all-in-one. You can buy the parts individually and the air filter can be an aftermarket, as long as its a high-flo filter.

Remember, there's a XB12 ecm and a XB9 ecm. Even thought the filters and exhaust cans can be swapped between bikes, the ecm cannot.

Hey that article at American Sport Bikes told me all the answers. Thanks a bunch there Gowindward! I bought a 2004 XB12R earlier this year and it came with the factory race kit. But I always wanted to know what the exact numbers were for it. Get a lot of questions from others in my area who have no idea about Buells or know anything about them. It is fun to baffle them with the facts of the whole Buell story and now I can throw the numbers at them.
