The girlfriend is transitioning from a scooter to a motorcycle. I am leaning towards a blast for her 1st bike to learn to shift/ride on.

Anyone make frame sliders or crash bars for this bike... just in case she lays her over while learning?

Buying a new Blast would be cheaper than getting sliders! : )

In all seriousness, post in the Thumper section. Us in the Xboard no nothing of those single cylinder "things"

To answer your question directly, haven't seen em.

But parts are dirt cheap for the Blast. Just ride.

Blast rider here. Don't sweat it. The Blast is about as indestructible as motorcycles get. Just ride it and don't borrow any worries.

Thanks

I did not realize we had a blast board by the way, I always just clicked on the links at the top of the main page ; )

Its between a blast or a Small Japanese Dual Sport, at least for the 1st riding season, she has her eye on a Guzzi Breva 750... I told her we are starting small 1st, but I appreciate her enthusiasm after a year on a scooter :-)

Yeah the Blast board has tons of good info on it, but there's often not a lot of people over there...

The Blast is a great little bike- small, underpowered, very easy and cheap to work on.

The downsides (IMO) are that the clutch is fairly stiff and the seating position just seems awkward for everyone I've ever seen on one!

I own one tho. : )

Hey Kev,

The way that the footpegs are designed on the Blast, in sort of a strange cross over arrangement, actually help protect the primary and lower end while the gas tank forms over the side and helps prevent engine parts from striking.

Most damage that occurs in a tip or a slide or slam or a high side (I teach Riders Edge and have seen the Blast do a lot of interesting airborne maneuvers)happens to the shifter and brake pedal and scratches on the plastic.

And rev it up and ride it hard. It likes it.

PS: My Blast is my main form of transport.
