2003xb9r firebolt i placed a claim w/ my insurance, if they total the bike out im going to buy it back from them and fix it myself. im looking for the name of this part. its the metal part that holds the front faring on. The stock Buell pegs are as good as any available on the aftermarket, unless you just want a different look, but the stockers are like $14 bucks, IIRC. Helluva deal if you ask me. i know i can get stock pegs, the question is. can i use the "passenger" pegs, as replacement for my rider pegs. are they the same size. | ||

BTW, Parts catalog shows different part #s for the rider and passenger pegs. Rider pegs are spring loaded to snap back into position, passenger pegs are not. Different design in that regard. Whether or not they would fit I don't know. | ||

Perhaps that parts catalog order should PRECEDE all these questions....it would make you appear wise and worldly. Parts are easy to get.  | ||

Reuben: I did read it. You have the serial order of events backward. Buy the manual first, then see what happens with the bike. You have stumbled into most the sophomoric mistakes a young rider can make. We are trying, albeit in vain, to help you help yourself. | ||

I dont get it, you dont even know whats happening with the bike yet. Insurance may or may not total it...Im betting they dont total as damage looks minimal. If they do total it, the $$ will pay off your loan. Do you have the extra $$$ laying around to buy it back? Kick back, have a soda & wait & see what your insurance company does. You must be a real young kid. I get the impression you are about 21-22 years old. | ||

Totaling a Bike.... I have seen the pictures of your bike. If I was you, I would stop counting the "total" egg. I would start looking into how to get over the deductible and score some cheap parts. Psst, buy the book first. That way you can cut out some of the labor costs. Get out a reality calculator and start doing the math. I don't think anybody was trying to be a JERK to you. I think Court is just trying to help you find the answers, he's just in New York, the place where helping a old lady across the street means a swift kick in the arse at some point.  Well maybe Dyna was trying to be a jerk, just go ahead and fire back at him and we'll all have something to read until your estimate comes back. Ben  P.S. yes i am 21 years old. my insurance will do a claim and have HD fix the bike, currently we do not know if the guy at fault has homeowners insurance. That is why we have not set though a claim yet to see how much repairs will be. if i do put a claim though my insurance and i don't plan on fixing the bike myself therefore i don't need the parts book, although the repair manual IS a necessity. If they total the bike then i do plan on buying it back and fixing it myself therefore i need the book and find it necessary. i apoligize to court for calling him a jerk, when i typed that it was 6 am. I realize that some/most find the parts book to be a necessity. I just wanted to get those two questions answered so i knew what to look for online while my bike is gone getting its estimate. reuben |
