i bought an xb9 primary sprocket to go in my 08 xb12, in hopes that the lower gearing would improve the low speed gremlins, or at least make me not notice them as much during low speed maneuvers...

since i got pizzed and sold the 08 and got an 06 xb12 firebolt, i thought i could put the 08 gear in my 06... not...as i feared, the splined shaft was too small, so i bought a sprocket for the 06 and installed it...

i have put lower gears in about every bike ive ever owned, from harleys to beemers and have never been disapointed in the improved performance...

well, my 06 xb12 firebolt is one fine running machine with the xb9 sprocket... several people have already done this mod, but i just wanted to say that its about the best bang for the buck, that you can do...for what its worth...

You put an XB9 drive sprocket in the primary? Did you have to shorten the chain? Is this the same as doing the "extra torque kit" from free spirits?

My understanding is that you swap out both sprockets and the primary chain.
