I'm at work, so I can't just look at my bike.

What is the stock front and back tire size for an 04 XB12s?

and from searching i get the idea that the general favor for tire is the pilot road, this sound right?

Just bought some Pilot Roads at the local Cycle Gear store. They had plenty in stock.

motorcycle-superstore.com doesn't have them and neither does ridedirect.com

I'm not driving an hour to get to a cycle gear store! Especially not when ridedirect.com has free shipping.

Pirelli Diablo Strada
Conti Road Attacks
Metzler Roadtec Z6
Dunlop Roadsmart

The Avon Storms are a great alternative to the PR2's. I would also recommend them as an alternative.

Do any of the alternatives have a dual rubber compound? I'm going with the pr2's to prevent flat spotting.

Bridgestone BT021 is a sport/touring tire with dual compound...

But I like the Pirelli Diablo Strada's more.

i can heartily recommend the conti road attacks. i have about 1300 miles on them, and they still look like new. cornering is awesome, and wet traction is predictable. i have to slab-it about half my miles, and they aren't flatspotting at all yet. i researched it pretty thoroughly before i decided what to get, and lots of folks are getting 7 or 8000, and even up to 9 or 10000 on the rear.

Ar15ed, do you have a picture of those on your bike? I'm not a picky person as far as tire tread patterns go, but i'm not sure I like the look of the conti's.

Just got my 2CTs on today. They came in the day after I ordered them from my local Honda shop. And they are dual compound.

The pirelli diablo corsa III is a dual compound. They came stock on the 25r, and as much as I liked the rosso, I like these even more since they don't seem to flat spot like the rosso.

Scorpion Snyc's

I got 15000 miles out of the first set

I have just about 10000 miles on the second set and still got probably another thousand or two left.

They are good at just about everything.

I think there only fault, which I just found out on my trip to Indy and back, is they don't like sustained High-speed hwy runs above 85mph. They started to flake off shavings of rubber.

I can't see a real reason why I would ever get another tire.

I got some Pilot Power 2CT's about 1000 miles ago, very nice tire, super sticky in the corners and rides very nice all around... I like them more than the diablo's that i had before...

Why syncs? the corssa 3 is more like what you want.

Don't know. This is the first set I've had. Around 1500 miles so far. Good price too, $9995 for the set and they came with a FREE 1125r.

Seriously tho, they seem to hold up very well on the slab. A ride like to Mid Ohio on my syncs or rossos would have left a little flat spot for sure. the corssa 3's showed no signs of such wear.

Because I know I can get atleast 8,000 miles out of the syncs. The reviews of the corsa III's are mixed, with some only getting 3,000-4,000 miles out of them. I need a tire that will last at least 8,000 miles and not put me in a ditch.

I also know how the syncs perform in the rain. I can't find any comments about the corsa III's in the wet. They don't seem to have any tread across the center, which bothers me (hydroplane much?)

They may be dual compound, but they are more of a race tire than a sport touring tire.

The syncs also work very well on my dirt roads, not sure about any of these other tires in the dirt.

Oh if it's long life you want, sync's cant be beat. And as you said, they're pretty darn good in the rain and on the loose stuff. I miss understood what you were lookin for.

I'm not a fair comparison, as right now I have them on my tuber, and that think EATS tires alive (something to do with being a hundred pounds heavier than the XB).

Right now I have something like 3k miles on them (including two track days, and one ride to TWO; 600 mile each way ride on the freeway).

The front looks great and the rear is about 50%.

But like I said, not a fair comparison. Use the search to find what other XB's are getting out of them.

Moose, here's a pic of the Conti Road Attack on my bike. I like the "boomerrang" tread pattern, it's different-just like my Buell ; )

I like the RA's. I got 7-8k on my first rear before I picked up a huge lag bolt with it. I've got almost another 6k on the current rear with another 1k-2k to go, although it's got a pretty good flat spot from lots of highway riding. I'm still on my original RA front, 14k on it! It's starting to show some cupping now.

I'll be replacing them over winter, probably with another set of RA's, unless I snag a deal on something else.

i got less than 3000 to the cords on the rear of the 1125 and have 7500 on the stradas now with the same type of use. the rear is just now showing a flat spot and i think i might make 10000 with it. i like!!
