I got to the dealer today for my first service and at the same time I did mention about the bad idle, fortunately my bike didn't have the doctor syndrome and it did run very bad at the dealer so they looked at it (even if I tough it was useless after reading everything here) and they found out there was a update in the maps, line Z they said. Result! the bike run a lot better for now.

Doesn't mean it's fixed but compared to the way it was running this morning I'm fine with it for now. The bike was running very rich and didn't want to idle and under 2500 rpm was a real bitch, but all that wasn't all the time some days it was when cold other when hot so for now I'll cross my fingers and hope it stays like it is for now.

I need to check my paperwork for my 5k service done at the end of August, but since then my 08 runs much better, same crappy gas mileage though. I think they may have done a reflash not sure until later tonight, I know along with the typical 5k stuff they did do the spark plugs. I'll check the paperwork and see if they reflashed it.

I have heard that if you reflash an early 08, then you can no longer use ECMSPY on it. Can anyone confirm this?

I spoke to my dealership yesterday and they told me that there is a new ECM update for the 08s. The service person I spoke to explained there are some changes to the induction system that may attribute to low rpm performance, or lack there of, and the update may improve things. This guy was spot on with my opinion of the bikes performance (low rpm surging; sub 4k-rpm is weak, not much grunt). I have confidence that there really is hope for the 08/09 crowd.

Now to find time to get the update : )
