Good to see that we've gone from insults to humour!

As for the "Look at me! I'm driving fast board" ... nope, won't go there.

I see Char wants to play, thats cool. I have pics of you & access to photoshop:D

And where the hell do you come off saying I dont have a Buell? Like Mike pointed out I have the X1, have owned it for over 2 years & put over 11,000 miles on it about 6 months.

Hmm maybe I will do a comparison of the pic you just posted & some of yourself. This could be a lot of fun. Thanks for the idea.

Ding Ding, back to your corners.

Well, apparently I got into this one a little to late. Gonen60, talk to the cop before he knows you have a lawyer. If you call him up and admit that you were just being foolish, he may agree to drop it down to a speeding charge without a lawyer. Read the RD law of that particular state. Many states have very specific conditions that have to be met before the charge can be reckless. More specific at least than the aformention "Driving in a reckless manner". If the officer still won't agree to rewrite the ticket, don't tell him "We'll see what my lawyer has to say about this". Statements like this will only cause him to make sure his case is well put together in the court room. Personally you would really have to be hauling ass to get a RD ticket from me. I have only written one in 7 years, that was for 25mph....................... with a 16 year old clinging to the hood. Good luck, I hate seeing people getting RD tickets.

Ding Ding, fight's on.

As far as I understand it, once it's in the system, the police officer is pretty much out of the loop. It's now up to the Judge, and By having a really good lawyer, is my only hope.
I went to DMV this morning and got a copy of my driving record. It's perfectly clean, except for on ticket (not stopping at a stop sign completly) three years ago. I am plus +3 points on my record. So I hope the Judge will take all this into consideration when deciding. I have never had a speeding ticket, not in almost 20 years of driving.

Not really true. I lower/dismiss tickets every week (I write about 50 each week). The judges never have a problem with it. There are always certain circumstances that may not have been known at the time of the stop that have relevance later on in the process. The officer is definately not even close to being out of the loop. If he chooses not to prosecute, there's nothing the judge can do to find the person guilty.

Really..?
I spoke with my Brother, who is a Police Detective in one of our neighboring cities, and I thought He said, once it's in the system, it can not be changed.
I will look into this for sure right now..

Okay, maybe it's just me. I don't post often but read a lot. First, Gonen, good luck with your situation and I'm not being smart here but thanks for the post that got this whole thing started. When I hit the back roads, I routinely get up to and over 100mph but like everyone else I feel safe and within my limits (famous last words?). That's not bragging. But Dyna raises valid points. I'd be toast if a ground hog or deer darted out and I clipped him. Just the other day I was flying along and for some reason thought to myself, "what if a cop was around?" Not more than a half-mile ahead there was one and he had a cager pulled over. Needless to say I took it easy on the way back. It just makes one take a step back and think of the big picture. Gotta do that every once in a while.
It sux that just because you reach a certain speed you are considered reckless. That's the system. It's all about raising revenue. Anyway, good luck, I hope things turn out as good as they can.

p.s. I've never locked-up the rear while cornering

I Agree 100%..SPEEDING Makes piloting a motorcycle on public highways all the more dangerous. There are 1000 things that can go wrong that can mess up your world, or even be fatal.

I would be amazed if anyone that owns a High performance sport bike, obeys all posted speed limits, ALL THE TIME.

I do 95% of the time, But on the occasion, for a very small amount of time, I crack the throttle and let the bike stretch it's legs.

I was at the wrong place at the wrong time, for the first time in almost 20 years.

Hell it can happen to any one. It's just a pitty they take speeding so god damn seriously over your side of the pond. I remember being chaced by three patrole units across three countys on a Ducati some years ago. Heck, I'dident even know they were following me untill this nackered looking Ford caught up while I was waiting for the lights to turn green at a bridge in Stafordshire. The cop told me the story about the three countys, congratulated me on my riding skill and choice of bike and as he pulled away another cop turned up. Same thing happened again 'cept he said that he could see that I wasn't some spotty oink on a cruiser and the bike could easyly handle that kind of speed safely. Then a bike cop arived...realy nice bloke and a REAL biker. We swapped info on good bikin roads and I eventialy got going agin with a friendly wave. I say this coz most European Cops don't give a tinkers toss if you're doing 88 down a straight and empty back road on a bike that is patently designed to go like the clappers. Jees, if you want to go around pulling back break fish tails Gonen60, you go for it ol' boy, and don't lisen to any of that nannying sactimonious crap I've been reading. Hell if they wanna ride like creeps, lettem go get a poofie Harly!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check around if/when you go for a lawyer. We have some in our area who specialize in fighting speeding tickets. They know every trick in the book when it comes to getting the thing thrown out on a technicality. They charge a flat rate with a guarantee to beat the ticket. Check with others in your area or local bike shops to ask the question. It aint pretty, maybe it aint fair, for sure it aint cheap, but it sure beats having it on your record/insurance.

S1joel...Thanks for the heads up on the flexibility that Officers have after issuing a citation. I never heard of that before, but it makes real sense in the case of a personality conflict at the scene.

My last speeding ticket, 15 over the limit a 4 point deal here. I hired an attorney and he got it reduce to impeding traffic which is a non moving violation and as such does not effect insurance nor does it cost any points. The fine was 50 bucks more the the 75 dollar sppeding fined plus the lawyer got $150. BUT the insurance increase would have been much worse.

The lawyer wanted to know what my goal was, just less points off my license or a no moving violation. The no moving violation would cost me more in fines.

Point, hire an attorney.
