Anybody know how many 02's were made...

According to Harley's Annual Report, there were 6887 XB's and 4056 Blasts shipped in 2002.

The report is from 2003, but lists the previous year's production numbers. It's on HD's web site under Investor Relations.

Mine has a build date of June 2002, I bought it in August of 02 and it is considered a 2003. I is just like cars, they build them early in the year but dont release them until the next years release date if they didnt build until the release date then there would be no bikes / cars ready to be sold until way later. and by the way, my 02 build date is going strong and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

"there were 6887 XB's and 4056 Blasts shipped in 2002"

And they're all '03's...

Scavenger hunt!!!!
-Find an XB, any XB, with a "2" in the tenth digit place in the VIN.
I'll send you $10 if you find one and submit a photo. Proof *required* to claim prize.

Now, there is at least one Blast engine with an XB9R engine number on it...

My XB9S is a 2003 model, I know the XB9R was out the year before I bought my S in March of 2003.
I know this disagrees with the information in Court's book.
I have my manual in front of me "2003 Buell Owner's Manual" "Lightning XB9S Model"

The '9R released first, but both released as '03 models. We received our XB9S unannounced about 4 months after the 9R.

I'll never forget that first 9S, because it had a hole in the weld around the O2 sensor, and would run rich as hell after 2 miles.
