Don't know how many of you out there live in the destruction path of Hurricane Ike. For those that don't know after the initial landfall in Texas where it caused massive power outages, flooding, and destruction, it turned north east and proceeded to cause damage by high winds thru out the mid west all the way to New York.

I live in Ohio, the remains of hurricane Ike caused a dry wind storm here on Sunday with wind gusts up to 78MPh. Pretty much the entire city of Cincinnati went without power sunday night as over a million power outages were reported. There were trees blown over everywhere, breaking power lines, damaging homes and cars, blowing shingles off roofs.

We just got power back today at 2pm after it going out Sunday around 1:30pm. There are still some 250,000 homes without power reported.

Anyways moral of the story. I took a ride yesterday and this happened.

After I had been riding for an hour or so I started to notice the rear end feeling a little squishy. Rode home and checked the pressure and I had 5psi in the rear. Put her up on stands and rolled the tire around to find this lovely roofing nail in my tire. I know it can happen any time but it was probably more likely to happen after the storm where shingles and roofing materials were being blown off houses.

Ordered me a set of these this morning. (I don't believe in plugging motorcycle tires)

After reading your story, I just realized I rode through my front yard the other day. My wife parked to close to my car so I decided to ride through the yard to get by the cars.

Well I had my shingle roof replaced 6 months ago with a metal roof. They littered my yard with roofing nails when they pulled the shingle roof off. They probably dropped a 1,000 nails down my dirt road as well when they towed the trailer of trash off.

Sure glad I remembered that before I got new tires. I think I'm getting the Michelin pilot road 2's, but they seem to be back ordered everywhere right now.

I'm sure glad Ike missed us here in florida, sorry for houston though. I'd never buy a house near the coast in Florida or the gulf coast. Lucky for me I couldn't afford it anyway.

Yeah we got smashed by ike here in Houston. I just got new pilot powers on and I've been super paranoid about putting a hole in them. There's all sort of crazy shit left in the road from that storm. and I must have bad luck with getting nails stuck in my back tire, i got 2 holes in my stock diablo.

Not to hijack, but I am going through this right now.
It took the dealer 3 weeks to locate a rear, and yesterday I found a front at a cyclegear shop.

I called cyclegear's 800# http://www.cyclegear.com/
They show 191 120/70zr17s in stock nationwide.
They seem to be stockpiling them. The dealer has an order with parts unlimited that is back ordered until the 3 week in october.

Just wanted to fill you in.

^^^Wow, that's a bad day.

Yeah, there are still some gas stations without electric and others without gas. Between my house and my Dads house, we had quite a bit of damage.
