Walter Roehrich is a member here, and visits every now and then.
He's a real stand up guy.
Any time I've had questions, I've shot him an e-mail and he answers nearly every time the same day.

So I take it the stock V-Rod motor can handle the power increase no problem. I didn't see any mention in the article of different internals.

If not for the price, this bike would be on my short list!

From Walter:
The Motorcycle.com article is the first of hopefully many to come. Cycle World, Motorcyclist and Roadracing World also attended the press launch last week as well. We are hoping that this will lead to exposing Roehr Motorcycles and the bike to many potential buyers, as we are very pleased with the final product and its performance and are confident that our customers will feel the same.

Too bad the 1125R couldn't look as sexy as that bike. But $50K? Man, that's steep!

I hope there's a smaller pulley option! Up the boost!

3.2 gallon fuel tank? I bet it runs out of gas quick if ridden hard.

I test road two V-Rod's before purchasing my Buell and the impression that I had was that motor is one "bad-ass" motor.

The motor would entice me to try to find the end of the power band, which I could not do!

Criminy, it's like I live in Bizzaro world or something. I'm completely amazed by how often I hear or read someone saying something along the lines of "the 1125R is ugly/is fugly/is fuuuuuugly/*barf* oh God remove it from my sight!" because it doesn't look like every other fully-faired bike on the market. Seriously? That's like saying "Rose McGowan?? No way--what a freak! She doesn't look like any of the gals on my block, so I'd have to beat her off my lawn with a rake!"

I'll take my freaky McGowan bike, thank-you-very-much. Y'all can keep the housefraus.

$50K??.... For that much jingle I could have an 1125r for the track, a CityX or a TT for the street and a Uly for touring.

I hear ya Paint.
But you have to remember I often do things too quickly.
I bout my 03XB9S as soon as they were available.
The following bike to be released was the XB12, and the price drop of the XB9s was unreal!
But I'm happy with it, well over 60K miles and still going strong!

I wish him the best. I feel a great bit of satisfaction from a good bleeding of my brakes; I could not imagine having the ability to create a bike.

Good luck Sir.

I noticed the part about R-1 mufflers. I just happen to have a set like new. Little bit of creative fab and they should fit my XB12.I'll see how they perform and sound and report back.Give me some time to get it done, when really crappy weather hits.

i want a supercharged bike

Can I get mine without Firebolt Headlights . . . Please

Joking aside, thanks for pushing the American Sportbike Walter. Your bike sounds like it has the making of something special. I applaud your design and hope I get to see a Roehr 1250 in person.

$50k is nutz! If the motor can handle 8 lbs of boost, then it can handle 10. 2 more psi might get it near 200rwhp.

$50K is a lot but you have to look at what you're getting, and what goes into it.
I asked Walter about the engine, and he told me that he has to buy the engine, and not from Harley. Harley won't have anything to do with it, he's literally on his own. If the bike starts to sell, the price will go down. Just look at how expensive the first Buells were with regard to todays dollars. The first anything is usually more expensive than the first. Just look at the iPhone, it's twice what the original was, at half the price.

Probably playing it safe with the super charger. The last thing he wants is to put the longevity of the bike in jeopardy.

I agree with everything you said, except the iPhone analogy...the price drop there was due largely in part to carrier (AT&T in our case) subsidies. Original iPhone 8gb (then the most expensive one) production cost: just over $220, iPhone 3G 8gb (now the smallest and least expensive one) production cost: $224.33. Just sayin...

Your point however is entirely valid. I did not flinch one bit at the $50k tag. 25 years ago, Erik Buell sold his RW750 for $17,000- pretty dang close to $50k of today's money.

I sure hope Walt is using the "upgraded" Firebolt lights. Wouldn't do to have a bike in that price range with dim, yellow lights after a few months, now would it?

Guys... Check the article at Motorcycle.com

Power to the Ground = 168 hp... NOT bad...

Still EXPENSIVE...but neat to see a guy building off of a good idea and keeping it in AMERICA.

Matt.
