Bad, is Gearloose running the Drummer now?

I know Gearhead was running it and everything he's posted has been very positive but haven't read any other comments lately from him.

has anyone put a sound bite up? Is it louder than the race kit? I know sound doesn't matter to a lot of people but its performance. I just want to give my dreams at night a sound to go with the visuals of a new exhaust. saving my pennies y'know.

no sound bites but, it is a hair louder some have said but it is a lower tone rumble compared to the race kit.
not as tinny sounding.

Quick question: suppose I just put the Drummer on my XB9 without making any other adjustments to the FI, ECM, or air filter, etc.

How then would the bike run?

Thanks,
Prof

Prof stack it would most likely not run as well as it does stock.Might be hesitant at a certain rpm or a flat spot somewhere you shouldn't

prof
It would run like any of the other pipes with out the upgrades. It would be totally crappy but it wouldn't be great. And it would probably be a lil lean and have a big dip in it.
kinda like if it was a carb you'd have to re jet if you changed a pipe, But with FI you should do the upgrade and I would say with the drummer to get your moneys worth to do the upgrade

As far as I know, Gearhead still loves his Drummer!
I haven't talked to him in a couple days.

Prof, I only ordered the Drummer and have to wait a bit on the ECM and air filter, but I will give a personal account after I get it. If it does suck, I will begin with the air filter, ride it and then get the ECM if it still sucks.

I just want to it work as well as stock for now, but who am I kidding? I bet I have the ECM and filter soon after.

Greetings from Gearhead (Ralph)

The pipe is great on a 12. You'll pull through first gear so hard and fast, you won't believe it! I never hit the rev limiter this much on my M2, what a hoot!!

The sound is outstanding!! It has actually become a little louder and deeper but my wifes 883 with baffled drag pipes is still louder, that's OK with me.

BUY THIS PIPE!!

IOWA FARM MAFIA :)

I'm excited too Bubba, once I get it out of the service dept with the tps reset :), I'll hopefully have no reason to ever go back there again! Now that will be a good feeling, new bike, new pipe, and a new sound.

Brian, just got back from picking up my XB just now. 48f at night and the Gerbing liner is worth its weight in gold. To boot, I get home and the pipe is sitting there waiting for me!

I hope to get it on this Saturday as it is supposed to be 72 and sunny in NY.

Nice job on the welds! Wish I had a garage to work in as I could be changing it right now.

I forgot to ask but you mentioned using a swivel ratchet to not have to remove the belt and pulley. Are you talking about one of the simple swivels you can buy at Sears?

I don't want to be stuck without the right tool.

Leeaw,
I did it by unbolting the rear muffler bracket from the cases. I didn't have an Allen wrench to loosen the pinch bolt at the time.

Having said that, I think it's simpler to loosen the rear axle and remove the idler pulley.

Brian,
I'll keep track of the duties/GST/customs/courier costs for any other Ozzies that might be interested in the Drummer. At this stage it looks like you could do a roaring trade in ecm's and filters at the very least...you could charge a fee for jumping through all those hoops and we'd still be better off! HD is a monopoly over here.
The Drummer with ecm & filter should end up being about the same price as the factory kit, but to buy the 3 components here individually it costs about $1900 AUD vs $1440 AUD for the race kit.
Looking forward to a good ride on Sunday, the first day off I'll get since picking up the bike a week and a half ago. Yeeeeehaaaaaa!!!
