Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you out there could give me an idea of parts and what the cost might be to convert my cityx into a firebolt. I know I will need the rear subframe, front fairing stay, fairings, seats, front triple clamp, front lights, mirrors,(will the cityx gauges work in the firebolt front fairing stay?)and the rear under tail. What else am I not thinking of? Is it worth the change? I would like to keep both bike parts and have two models of bike all in one.

Probably cheaper to buy the R and put the lower pegs and an X on the tank.

I can't get the picture, sorry.

The CityX will be lower insurance so there is a point -- plus a CityX R would be pretty cool!

The whole multiple parts thing isn't so usable though, I have been looking to make a hot swappable tail for my R so I can swap it with an S tail (which I am still looking for) and though it is do-able it might be more of a pain than I am will to deal with -- which will mean I will be looking for a S for R tail swap for.

A swappable front end would be really hard just because the wiring harness would need to have plugs spliced in so you could swap them plus you would have to unbolt the front sub-frame. All and all possible but might be more than you want on your first project.

Basically the main issue with the R tail on an S (from what I remember) is that the S has a shorter brake line than the R so the master cylinder will not reach the mounting position on the R's subframe.

Cheers!

What about swapping out wiring harness to a firebolt, that should keep me from having to slice into the wiring harness.I would try and get all my parts from ebay or salvage yard. Of course the swap wouldn't be one I would want to make on a weekly basis. However I do think it would be cool to be able to change the bike from on configuration to another.

When I bought my XB9S, insurance was quoted to me as the same for an S, R or X...

I was quoted a lot higher insurance for a CityX than anything. I was told it was a hooligan bike. So, they had me pegged right, ha. Weird how these things work.

Not even close for me. Over $400 more a year for an R.

Wiring harness in nose for R, tail for S -- plus different head and tail sub-frames would make a hot swappable front and tail tough.

Cheers!

I think that the wiring and electricals are the biggest challenge. A lot of the R underseat is cleared out to under the fairing.

Couldn't you just leave the cityx wire harness and squeeze the ecm in the firebolt tail? I've only owned firebolts and it would seem that theres room

Yes you can, it's what I did.
I don't have the Firebolt front, only the tail.
Quick change wouldn't be.
