I was thinking of replacing my xb12s pegs with one that sticks straight out instead of the stock dropped ones. I have a hard time downshifting without taking my foot of the peg. Same with rear brake. Anybody do this? Pros/cons? I have knee issues and I hope this won't make it worse.

You could adjust the position your shift and brake levers.

i took the passenger pegs and put them on the rider mounts, it was a quick fix after a wreck, but i'm not going back to lower pegs. If you have knee problems, i can't imagine a higher peg would help, seeing as your knees will be more bent.
try to adjust like Fran_dog said, g/l.

The shifter has a good range of adjustment. Loosen the two lock nuts and the middle shaft turns. Put a tape measure to the ground so you can keep track of the changes.

The brake has limited adjustment and it's a bit awkward around the rubber piece. One of the street bike had different coloured clevis, I was thinking of getting a matching one to see if that would give me more distance. (The adjusting bolt actually comes too close to the heel of the brake lever.)

Yes I changed mine and didn't notice much difference but my knees are in good shape. I still need to adjust the shift and brake levers

I didn't know the shifter was adjustable. Thanks, I will try that. I wish I had a bad-web for all my answers...

I have the silver ones.

I like them, it feels strange at first (I had the S pegs for four years) but now I don't even notice.

I just adjusted the shifter/brake. Perfect! Thanks guys, don't know what I'd do without you. Thanks for the offer on the pegs, but I like these ones and with the shifters adjusted it all works. I'm going to get them powder coated this winter.I don't need to lock tight the bolts do I?

Every bolt seems to need loctite.

Before powdercoating, make sure you think about what surfaces should not get powdercoated. The thickness will take up the clearances and fill the female and male threads. Then, make sure the powdercoater understands your needs.
