I know I've read a thread not too long ago about this, but can not locate it. When I turn the bike onto the on position, the fuel pump kicks on like normal, but when I start it the pump stays on while riding. Can someone refresh my memory about what to do about this or what is the issue? Thanks!

The pump is supposed to run while riding, I don't see the problem.

It runs for a few seconds when you hit the red on switch to prime the system, then it runs all the time when the engine is on.

The "whine" is normal while the bike is running? It has never been this loud, like it is when you first hit the run switch. I must be losing it.

If your fuel pump is running than you better go and catch it!!

On a serious note, mine screams louder than my fan sometimes when I'm riding.

i've always found the sound/whine to be louder when the low fuel light is close to illuminating, it's just another reminder for me to stop for gas.

i only hear it when it is priming and when the engine is cold/warming up - other than that the fan usually drowns it out

I don't think you thought about this topic as much as you should have. LOL

How else would your engine get fuel if the pump isn't working? No venturi to suck the fuel down.

The pump running while the engine is running is a good thing : )

It's when you turn the key on before startup and the pump doesn't shut down after priming (engine NOT running) that's an indication of a problem.

Low on fuel is why it was louder than usual. Good call. The only reason I asked is because it was more noticeable than usual... Thanks for the responses.

Sounds more like your exhaust is too quiet. If the bike is running you shouldn't be able to hear the pump running. I have to listen very carefully to hear my pump running over my special ops muffler.

"Sounds more like your exhaust is too quiet."

Agreed. Get a louder exhaust and the pump will be quieter. : )
