Update...

- Picked-up the bike after its 5k service.

- The oil level level was in the cross-hatched area when hot.

- Noticed puffs of smoke when twisting the throttle off-idle... along with the characteristic pop/hesitation.

- Checked the oil several times on the road and the oil level was (as usual) all over the place. However, if I visually guessed at an average it was genrally going down. The wife put 300+ mil on it.

- Opened the airbox and guess what I found? An oil soaked filter and airbox.

- Apparently the bike had been overfilled and it spit it out. I suspect that the service techs can't drain the oil if it isn't in the swing arm.

- The saga continues...

To all who provided their VINs... I've been told that the VINs have been provided to Buell MC. When BMC has a resolution, they will want complete info on each bike/owner. VIN, Mileage, Owners name etc.

Just a reminder to stay tuned...

Still puking a little oil into the air box... An inadvertent overfill by the dealer tech on the last oil change has further highlighted the reason this oil system problem is a problem for owners. If you can't properly empty it you can't accurately fill it.

I have been notified that Buell has identified the possible causes and has authorized "exploratory surgery" on the engine oil system. WooHoo!

More to follow!

Buell authorized a new oil pump. The replacement seems to have fixed the problem. The dealer is not sure what caused the problem and the oil pump is going back to HD for further analysis.

The oil system seems to be working as advertised. The oil system retain oil in the swing-arm for a hot check and even retains some oil in the swingarm overnight.

Buell and Santa Fe HD have come through and fixed the problem.

The local dealer is asking for additional info on all other affected bikes... Those of you who reported the same problem (you know who you are) should either contact your dealer and start the process I went through or drop me an email with specifics about your bike and the nature of the oil system problem.
