so I finally get the leaks fixed. I'm washing the forks and see 2 pieces of clear tape.. wtf? I then realize that the fork needed to be turned 180 degrees and the tape is to the outside instead of being in the inside so the brake lines rub on it. IDIOTS.
but what really pisses me off is that the left fork (right one was leaking) now "moves" front to back. when I put the brakes on and off just sitting on the bike, you can see the lower tube move forward and back inside itself (like there is no upper bushing inside). that can't be good

As I recall... If you get any sort of front/back play in the forks (Probably worse if it's only one...) of a bike it's really good for setting up a high speed wobble... Someone who knows for sure please chime in.

Tim, find out which mechanic worked on your XB. Let me know (privately please) and I will make sure he DOESN'T do my 10k service.

This stuff make me mad. You too?

Duh...

Also Misato... I just took a look at your profile... Are those pipes the "force Nallin" exhaust?? What are those? Do they work well?

M1combat that is the Nallin Force pipe and it works excellent but its been known to crack at the mount underneath.

I haven't been back to them, it was destination HD. DHD is going to do some work for me so I'm going to have them fix that also..
yup. force/nallin
I've heard they fixed whatever was making them crack at the mount. mine is still ok so far.
now that i've found a good map to load, that setup works great.. I'll have the new dyno run in a few weeks..

the one that came with it made 78HP and was bad low-mid..(also way lean)
this one I could tell right away, low and mid were very noticable and I finially got to race my freind again with this map and huge difference in performance.
someone sent it to me, he had it mapped at fast by ferracci for his bike. I sent it to another guy in cali and he said it was a big improvement also..

Misato, I noticed the weld cracking on my Force today. Not as catastrophic as yours but I'm going to keep an eye on it. If it gets worse I'll either have it welded myself or send it back. I have a carbon fiber chin spoiler so I wonder if it being lighter is easier on that bracket. It's a damn shame because I love the pipe (sound, power and look)...not to mention, it cost a heap of money. Anyhow, I changed my oil today at 500 miles and could not believe all the metal on the magnet drain plug...must be from the dyno runs.

I changed mine at 500 also. it looked like metallic paint..
when I get the bike back I have to send the exhaust back to force. she said the new ones were not shipping yet..hmmm. at least its winter.

its almost back...
"WE HAVE REPLACED YOU REAR TIRE, REPLACED BOTH FORK TUBES AND BUSHINGS, REPLACED FT ISO MOUNT, REPLACED SEAT, ADJUSTED STEERING HEAD BEARINGS. TECH SAYS BIKE HANDLES AND PREFORMS GREAT WITH NO LEAKS.
TALK TO YOU SOON. IF IVE MISSED ANYTHING LET ME KNOW.

I didn't know the ft mount was bad..?
anyone else leak oil from the top of the rear cyl? its leaks down and all the way back to the fan. then it blows on my polished rear tail..
anyway I'm hoping to get another dyno run with that map real soon.

Misato,

Mine is puking oil from what looks to be the crankcase breather on the top of the rear cylinder. I'm putting in a new velocity stack/snorkel after the "girlfriend incident" and will take a closer look at it this evening.

Misato,

The "girlfriend" incident resulted in my XB9S's velocity stack being ripped out of the bike.

If you open up your airbox, there are two rubber tubes near the IAT sensor. One tube goes to the front crank breather, the other goes to the rear crank breather.

My rear crank breather doo-hicky was kind of loose. It was flopping around. I thought I'd look at it more closely tonight, but my replacement velocity stack was mis-ordered and I'm waiting for the right part to arrive.

Looking at the manual, there's a grommet in the valve cover that the breather doo-hickey press fits into. I think the doo-hickey is no longer firmly pressed into the grommet. I'll let you know when I get my part in.

Thats probably what it is. if the valve gets turned in the grommet it kinda lifts and leaves a space. Therefore you have leakage.
No big deal just put it back right.

Fullpower, it uses the X1 unit and hooks up the same way. Plug it into the injectors, connect it to ground and optionally install the o2 sensor. After that is done take it to a Dyno Tech PC tuning shop and have them map it for you. The real trick is finding a shop that knows how to do Buells, and is willing to do it. Expect to drop $150-300 for a good map. Best I've seen is the one that Fast by Ferracci did with a Force pipe, that's the one that Misato is using though the map was done for another bike.

the map that came with it is crap. 78hp

I mounted it in the airbox.. hidden away..
I will have the new dyno sheet by tuesday, with the feracci map and hopefully its MUCH better. I can definately tell it runs a WHOLE lot better with this map. I couldn't find anyone up here that sounded like they knew what the hell they are doing with buells.

I'm running a Latus equipped XB with the PCIII & the HP O2 sensor, Stock ECM. I've had good results just using the button adjustments, and it really improved mixture/performance at 2500-4000 RPM.
