I'm sure most of you guys have seen this at one point or another on XBs- the tach seems to "hang" around 2k rpm for a second or two before dropping back to idle. I noticed it on quite a few XB9 models I rode, but by XB12R didn't do it stock. After installing the race kit on my XB12 it's started the slow return to idle. It seems to be worse when it's hot. When riding in traffic today I noticed the bike sat at ~1700rpm for nearly two full seconds before dropping back down to idle. Has anyone discovered a cause/fix for this?

Thanks,

Mike L.

That's happened to me when I had an intake leak on the S2.
Just something to think of ...

This happens on all the FI bikes when the idle is adjusted slightly too high. Hope this helps.

Just adjust the idle screw down just a little bit and it will likely go away.

My XB9 did this from day one. After a week or two I was able to bring it back to the dealer. They said the computer was bad and they installed a new one. Its been fine since.

Now that I read these posting I too have noticed this with my XB9S, especially when coming to a stop at a red light or something like that. The clutch is pulled in or the bike is shifted to neutral, the bike seems to idle at 2 for a second before going down.
