So, what's the benefit of the chain conversion? I kinda like not having to lube my belt every month.

Well, believe it or not, some people prefer chain drives. Buell belts have been know to break, especially the belts on the 03 models. Some people prefer to be able to change gearing on a bike, but that is more of a racer thing. Running a taller gear will get you a little better gas mileage.
Personal choice I guess.

The main benefit is if you track your bike on a regular basis. Other than that as previously stated, some people just prefer chain over belt or just don't want to have the possibility of a belt breaking without warning.

I don't think it's possible to break a good 530 with a Buell...even that 1125. I have chains on all of my Buells and have automatic oilers on them too, thereby making them near maintenance free as well.

You gotta have a self oiler if you're running a chain. I really do like being the only kid on the block with one. On the other hand I suppose sharing is the right thing to do. It is a "Scott oiler" I got mine from "Aerostich.com", Aerostich is an excellent company. They can be a bit pricy but I would rather save and get the best than waste my money on sheet. Fair warning, you need a bit of mechanical knowhow and confidence to do the modification. To all that are still with me...let's get it on. The oiler I use is run off of intake vacume (they make electronic ones but i liked the vacume one better). I had to drill a hole in my intake below the butterfly on the left side (there is a boss that looks as if it were put there for this aplication) to source my vacume. that is the only difficult part, but I already figured that part out so it's not tricky anymore. I also sprung for the "dual injector" on my bikes. It is a splitter that straddles the sprocket and drips oil onto both sides of the sprocket. Centrifical force does the rest. I love it. I have Bolts so it was easy for me to mount the reservoir under the seat. On the earlier style swingarms there are a few threaded holes from the belt guard. One of these worked perfectly for mounting the dual injector with a simple bracket I had laying around (a 90 degree angle about 1/2" wide, 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" long by maybe 1/16" thick). I know precious little about computers so I can not show you pictures. However, I will have someone help/do it for me. Anyone local to Cranford N.J. is welcome to take a look at mine. Carefull when on Aerostiches website as they have a great many items that you will end up "needing". I will try to get photos up this weekend. Feel free to hit me with any questions you may have.

My BSA had an automatic chain oiler. The crankcase vent splooged right onto the chain! Could really get messy at times.

Hey Slaughter, my 65 Triumph chop still has the one of wich you speak. Plus where the chain wore through the oiltank (don't ask)it drips a bit on the chain as well.
