Been wondering where the term Firebolt came about. Someone on another board mentioned Harry potter's broom is called firebolt.

I'm pretty familiar with fighter aircraft and I can't think of one that was ever named "Firebolt". Am I forgetting one?

I cant find it right now but there is a great clip from Still Standing and how the son was involved in a world of warcraft tournament. "I am not going to have my son bullied by people that get bullied"
"All hail to the Wizard of Nerd"

According to Fox's, the MIG-58 Firebolt will be one of the best interceptors when it is created in 2066. It is designed to take out the American Starblade ('Blade, think about it). The weapons on the Firebolt replace the previous Cyclone system (hmmm).

As far as names go a lot of it seems to be based off Greek myth.

Hmm. Well, back in "the day", guys used to shoot flaming arrows during battles. Arrows fired from crossbows are called bolts. Maybe it's in reference to a flaming crossbow bolt?
