I'm wondering if i'm waking up everyone that lives on the road I have to drive down. I have a 3-4 mile drive through my neighborhood before I get to the main hwy to work. I leave around 4:30am to be at work at 5.

Is the buell race muffler quieter?

I wish i could hear what it sounds like when my bike goes by my house. Maybe it only seems loud because i'm sitting on top of the motor. My mustang is pretty loud, but the bike seems quite a bit louder at 4am.

Anyone with a drummer get complaints?

Have a buddy ride it past your house and find out.

Simply put, the Drummer is perfect.

Not too loud.

Not too quiet.

Best low end in the business.

I live in a little old village, and everyone just loves the sound of the Drummer.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you hear from neighbors..Just take it easy when you pull off and til you get down the road. I had a Drummer on my other XB12. .It seemed to be only very slightly louder than the Buell race muffler...now have a SpecOps on my '05 XB12..it seems to be a slight bit quieter than the Drummer, but louder than the Buell version. Has a really nice sound.

I don't have any buddies that know how to ride . My wife says no way she's doing it. She said it doesn't sound any different than my car until I get up to the house, but she can hear me coming a few blocks away.

Moosestang. Fly me across from New Zealand mate and I'll ride it past your house as many times as you want. I run a Drummer on my Bolt and had a buddy do a few passes to get an idea of the sound. You know it's coming but it's deep and good. Maybe any neighbours you might wake at 4.00am will simply say "Damn, that Buell sounds sweet".

The Drummer is louder than the Race can but it's not an obnoxious "loud". Drive the bike nice and easy and you should be fine. I come and go at all sorts of strange hours and have never had a complaint.

I have 2 motorcycle riders near my house. Both are louder than my latus by a longshot. One comes in idleing and shuts down early and rolls in as quietly. I dont mind one bit. The other guy is rapping his pipes any time that thing is running. Kind of irritating.

I thought my drummer was too loud also, had my cousin ride my bike past the house a few times. It is quieter than all the cruisers that come by. It is just your proximity to the muffler exit. If it was back farther like a sportster or soft tail it would seem quieter to you.

I wear plugs at all times with it and keep it under 2500 in my neighborhood.

+1 on the go slow and pull in the clutch to coast. I live in a condo neighborhood and have a Jardine.

...most people don't make the effort to complain. What are you going to say? "someone rode past my house with a load a$$ motorcycle...." okay fine, but you'll need to track when they come through, then wait for them, then get a plate number, then call and make the complaint.

Who has the time for that? Trust me, it is very annoying. No one wants to hear your bikes when they're trying to relax, or enjoy time off, especially when they're at home.

Be respectful of others and take it easy, especially when traveling through residential areas.

I have been pulling in the clutch lately and coasting to a stop. I try to keep it under 3000 rpms.

Thanks for all the replies. I love the sound of the drummer and would hate to have to get rid of it. It has a great deep tone at idle.

"Simply put, the Drummer is perfect."

I always found the Drummer's exhaust note to be more 'rich' than loud. Certainly not obnoxiously 'rich' like some exhausts are.
