Well, I finally did it. I put Jessie shinny side down. I was going into a 90 degree turn pretty hot, heard the foot peg drag and then felt the back tire wash out from underneath me. Then the foot peg drug really far spinning the bike into a bank. The cause: A cold back tire. It was a little chilly and the road was still cold.
Damage to the bike not a lot. Needs a new chrome bar end mirror,(this puppy took most of the damage) new black clutch leaver, turn signal, scratched up swing arm, scratched up my polished tail, so I'll have to take it off and sand and buff it all over again. And last but not least it twisted the handle bar just a tad.(if anyone has a xbs handle bar laying around let me know I'll take it off your hands)
Damage to me, thanks to the right gear 2 scuffed up knees. I'm pretty lucky. If I had my riding pants on not jeans, my knees would be fine.
Toona and I were on our way to clems BBQ when it happened. After the crash, we picked out all the dirt hopped on went and had some BBQ, then went to Kissel motorsport so toona could get a new scorpion exo 1000 helmet, and went home.

I hope to have the bike finished by the end of next week. I dont like not being able to ride. Here in PA our riding time is slim so we have to take advantage.

Glad to hear you are ok. also good to see not a lot of damage to your scoot.
i had someone back into my bike a couple of months ago. they bent my bars. i went with the renthal bars from americansportbike.com . they are just about the same price as stock. i really like them a lot. very comfy and extremely responsive.

I was looking at those today. Might just have to go with them.
Sorry to hear about someone backing into you. Was this after homecoming?

no it was before homecoming. i got my put back together about a week before leaving for homecoming.

you wont regret getting those bars. they are wider than stock by about 1" and not quit as bent back as stock. but very easy to get used to. after a ride thru town i was totally comfortable with them. i also switched to reverse shift at the same time. it was like riding a brand new bike...lol

What part of PA are you from? I will be heading back up there in about 10 months when I get done with school here in Orlando. I will need people to ride with then.

Good to hear you & your bike came out with only minor damage. After riding with you earlier this year I can understand how it happened. I bet BBQ at Clems made it feel much better. Kinda like mommy kissing your boo-boo. You really should try to make wva rally this comming weekend. Anyway, hope you heal quickly. Jon

Where there is a will there is a way. Just borrow parts from Toonas bike. He said he was going to car races or something like that this weekend. He wont be needing them. Jon

Good to hear you rode away relatively unscathed!

I was riding early morning today in SoCal (SandCanyon off 14fwy) and almost did the same thing.. breaking in brand new tires..

Peep, what you forgot was I am RIDING my Buell to the NHRA drags in Reading, PA.

Plus, I've seen firsthand how XB9er rides, who do you think took those pictures Would you loan him some parts. ; )

He was rather graceful on his dismount. Being that the Olympics are going on, I'd give him a 9.3. He didn't point his toes when he jumped up, or he'd have scored better.

It went down so smooth that it didn't even break off the rider foot peg or shifter/linkage.

Was it pure skill or just "running out of experience"?

I did something similar this morning. I was coming into a 90 degree turn hot, felt the pegs hit hard, kicked the rear tire out about 6 inches and then it grabbed, stood the bike up, luckily it was a parking lot, lots of room for forgiveness and I was able to recover, I guess I should be more careful next time or I could dump it like you.
