Ok - it was a shamless plug. A deal at $300 to be sure though.

A deal at $300 to be sure though.

No doubt!

The bodywork is pre-production for bodywork I will be selling in the future.

How soon in the future? Will the price stay close to $300, or is it this low because of preproduction?

Trusty - If I don't get $300 for the lot I will sell them separately. What pieces do you want?

Lothodon - I have some tail sections, blue and red. I can make them.

Glitch - Demand seems to be lower than I expected, so maybe no more. Price of production pieces would be much closer to the price of carbon fiber pieces already on the market.

Let me (us) know if you plan to sell these. I'm interested in the oil cooler scoop and the air scoop.

I wonder how that gold would look with my black...if they were to be sold seperatly...hmmm

Roc

If the price is right and the pieces are identical for the 9S, I'm keen on the air intake scoop and oil cooler scoop...

Do you have more pictures of your bike?

Roc,
I saw an XB at Hal's when we were up for the 20th that had blue carbon fiber on it. Is that stuff you made? It looked real good.

Red set w/the tail section would be **very** tempting, Roc. Possible?

Chaser - I'm not sure how much it wieghs. It should weigh less, but it is made with carbonfiber/kevlar on the outside and fiberglass on the inside. No fiberglass in the future. They are not as heavy as the stock pieces, enough difference that you can tell with a piece in each hand.

Other parts should be about 3 months, but I'm not sure if the demand is there.

I will take more pictures, it is dark now and my bike is dirty. It has a red set on it now. When it is clean and the sun is out it looks kind of like snake skin.

Awprior - nope, not me. Was it a blue and black weave or was a color added to the resin, yielding an overall blue tint?

Mookie - no pictures of yellow on the bike.

Geofg - Maybe soon.

red

That was just a paint technique on the bike at Hals, wasn't CF at all.

Thanks Easy. I thought it was paint, but wasn't sure. I need to get an XB so I can get all of these CF goodies. They are awesome.

If you make them, I will buy a blue or red set. I would even buy the yellow set on ebay if it had the tailsection. Very cool.

If you're going to do this as a side business I'm quite interested as well. Probably Red or Blue unless you can get a more "yellow" color instead of the gold :).

Excellent work BTW.

i see you didn't sell em, i'm sorry about that...but i too would be interested in a blue set (if it's darker blue than "battle blue";). i especially like the one piece chin fairing.

keep us all posted of your future plans if you could.

I would imagine the reason that the stuff didn't sell, at least the reason that I didn't bid on it, was because of two things. 1: The color is not a popular choice and 2: Without having a matching tail section a 'Bolt would look pretty odd having all that cool carbon stuff everywhere else..........

couldn't agree more, i myself wouldn't consider a set unless it was complete. every part that is currently battle blue is what i'm looking to replace.

I think this stuff is really cool! Please don't let slow sales discourage you. If I wasn't in love with the Racing Red color of my 12R I'd certainly be interested in a set. Maybe down the road a bit I'll be interested in a set just for a change of pace. At that price it's surely a good deal. That's less than the price of the stock plastics.

Keep up the good work :)

Just out of curiosity- What would the price be on a full set of Firebolt bodywork including the air scoop and oil cooler cover? I'd probably be looking for red, if that makes a difference in price.

Thanks,
Mike L.

Thank you all for the support. As a side business it is possibly more trouble than it is worth, but I love the bike and it is fun to tinker with.

Price point for a full production set, which is everything on an XB9 with the exception of the belt guard parts, would be around $2,800 with vendor markup – I am considering selling it directly though. That price would be for a Kevlar and carbon fiber weave backed by carbon fiber. Only carbon fiber would be a bit less. I would probably sell a full set and also a set that replaced only the black parts.

I agree about the idea that it did not sell because it was incomplete, but the opening bid was so much less than it costs to make. I thought it would look great just to replace all of the black pieces and the fender, re-sell the airbox or otherwise leave it off the bike.

I think it is difficult to judge quality through the pictures on ebay and I think I may have down played the quality. It has generated more interest in person.

Any comments are appreciated.

CKJ – I have someone else that asked before you and if they pass I will offer it to you.

FWIW I saw Roc's bike at Bonneville, and the CF stuff is shweeet. Got a lot of comments from everyone that stopped by the pits. He's right, the pics don't do it justice.

Roc, that's absolutely stunning.

You said you'd make a full set, and a set to just replace the black bits. What about the other way around, to just replace the colored bits?
