Just because you work for Buell or HD doesn't give you the right to be an "a-hole" anonamously.

This isn't the first post where somebody from The Mothership or The Valley of the Elves has been rude or worse.

What's good for the Goose....

The advantage of the anony posting is that the poster can express official information without corporate reprisals. In addition, it allows for the person to express their true feelings. The problem is that once they post anonymously, they can't unpost responses as anony later.

If I post something that I KNOW to be true and you question my veracity with half truths and wild ass guesses, you better believe I am going to come out swinging. That isn't being an a-hole. That is responding in-kind to ridiculous claims from folks who haven't done the data logging to back up their claims.

There is no butt dyno data contained in the spec sheets.

If I went to a car dealer and agrued the point of a spare tire and its value, I, being a customer, would not really expect this from the dealership employee.......

"It certainly is true, you freakin' troll."

To me, being in customer service as a sales person and spokesperson for Gander Mountain, I wouldn't expect my dealings to continue with the public for too long if I said that. Maybe he/she should stay hidden.

Stating your case and insulting people/customers are two totally different things Fat. This is probably the exact reason why Harley doesn't want its employees involved with these forums.

You are assuming that because they post under the "anony" badge that they are a Buell employee. We, as custodians, vet who is and who is not using the anony badge correctly.

If you got that treatment from someone on a showroom floor, I'd expect that the behavior would be grounds for dismissal.

Here, they are a regular joe poster who is potentially releasing information that is not generally for public consumption and being protected from company reprisals by utilizing the anony badge.

Were this person NOT posting without the badge, I doubt we'd be having this debate.

The price of getting inside information is that we don't get to know the real identity of the poster (in order to protect them). You chose to engage an anony coarsely, and they will respond in kind. The anony badge doesn't obligate them to any sort of company decorum toward us.

Don't like the way things work? Fine. We simply won't get the details and answers we want.

In the end, there are certain folks who don't trust anyone from the "company". They will flatly debate anything that they say regardless of whether they have any direct facts or proof.

If Erik himself came on here and posted direct answers, there would be some here who would call him a liar.

To his face even.

Can Interest you in an aluminum velocity stack?
It's good for an extra 10-15 hp on your butt dyno

(Disclaimer: Lots of beer needed to really feel the power gains)

Oh and tell the girl with the big freaking scoops that she needs to remove one before winter or she risks becoming frigid.

Nice shot of Adrienne Barbeau.

Here is a shot of her and I getting hammered back in the 80s.

I keep the pic stashed inside my RSS, to keep the fuel rail from icing... But can you tell where my right hand is.......Look in her eyes for the answer.

Buell doesn't recommend anything besides frame pucks? That's just stupid. Oh noes, I hope an anony doesn't attack me for speaking out. LOL

Saw an 9R go down this weekend. No damage to anything but bar end, brake lever, and frame slider.

The rider went on to finish the rest of the 6 of 8 sessions of the track day with no problems.

You can strap on all the frame sliders you want, but I doubt that they would have much more benefit and potentially could create problems previously well debated.

My take on frame sliders is that they take all the energy from the force of impact and concentrate it all into that little, tiny, itsy, bitsy space of a couple of inches.

That's a lot of energy per square inch!

I can see them causing much damage.

The pucks on the other hand absorb energy upon impact.

>>>>Buell doesn't recommend anything besides frame pucks?

Sliders welded on the frame are unwise. This is not a guess, it is based on the number of frames that have been involved in little more than a simple tip over and required total frame replacement.

You ask.

Buell answered to the best of their ability based on the facts they have and best know them.

If you don't like the answer do what I do . . . whatever you friggin' please but waste not your valued time disputing the facts.

I shot this yesterday. Didn't bother saying anything to the guy but if this bike, as an example, were simply to be tipped off it's pit stands it COULD be VERY PRICEY.

>>>>Don't you think that Anony's statements, a sample of which are above, were more than a little brash, insulting and absolutist?

Surveyor: Allow me to butt in on the question you'd addressed to Blake.

MY ANSWER is that you are pretty much right. But here's where it gets dicey. It's one thing if you insult my choice of vehicle, it's pretty much just a "choice" I made and I'm not terribly invested in it.

If, as an example, I'd worked for 2 years designing, testing and refining the vehicle to make it the best I could and someone tossed one of those stones . . . all of a sudden the rules are kinda changed.

The folks at Buell (and HD PDC by the way) have feelings too.

The best example (and I hope you don't have a daughter and if you do this is not directed to you, just as example) but if you posted a photo of your daughter and I said "man is that bitch ugly". . . . you would react differently (tell me if I am wrong here) than you would had I said the same thing about Linda Blair stew spewing in the Exorcist.

Feelings and respect go both ways.

I am in the wonderful position of being a construction worker and we spend a good part of our days telling folks to go themselves. I can well imagine that had I, as a Buell employee, tried to be helpful and provided an honest opinion that was received as some here have been that they to would be telling lots of folks to go themselves.

Any questions at to why the internet prohibition?

Yeah... Anony's response was more "real" than some corporately cleansed party line. So flippin what.

I don't know that this specific Anony was a BMC employee or not but I do know I prefer real responses from anyone I do business with. If you don't like it... well...

Get off the internet.

What do you suppose you would have gotten from Honda?

I letter in three months that says "Thanks for your inquiry... please check out our now models at your local Honda dealer." maybe?

To me Anony has personality. It's not an a-hole. It's... It's...

I understand that Anony's have feelings, too. But so does everyone else. And I have little doubt that if anyone responded in such a manner, it wouldn't be brushed off like this is.

At the very least, hoards of folks would not come running to their defenses.

Tell me I'm wrong.

To be honest, I don't care how an Anony acts, so long as they are upheld to the same rules as every other user of this board. The board in which there is a rule against direct personal attacks.

"You freakin' troll" is a personal attack. I've watched people here be chastised for much less.

Rules go both ways, just like feelings and respect.

Ha, engineer and personality....

Honda: buddy sent problem description and resolution to Honda. Honda sent several page letter from their lawyer. No mention of the actual problem in any of it. Buddy does not drive/ride/use any Honda product anymore.

Buell promised a human touch, sometimes humans bite. They've kept their promise (assuming we're not building castles on clouds of speculation).

Trojan,

It certainly is true, you freakin' troll. How dare you call us liars; where the hell are your credentials?! The RSS was initially in the design, so both sides would match cosmetically, but had to be removed for a specific issue, namely the fuel rail. Your attitude towards Buell's engineering staff is disgusting.
