I've got an early '08 XB12Ss with crappy mileage AND...I'm confused as to weather or not Buell has or has not come out with an ECM reflash for these. I've contacted the local Harley dealer here in Houston and all they'll tell me is that there is NOT a reflash available for my XB, at all. So I call, Buell Customer Service. After being put on hold a few times and many wasted minutes, the tell me to CONTACT MY HARLEY DEALER!! Well, I tell them that the dealer said there isn't one available and they say that the dealer would know if there isn't one or not. I couldn't even get them to tell me if there is a reflash available!!!!!

I can't believe the complete and utter LACK of customer service from both sides!!!! Does anybody know of any BUELL dealers around Houston that are worth a sh*t?!

AFAIK, your dealer didn't lie to you.

The new maps are supposed to out early fall.

I went through the same thing. I had the ECM update put on July 14th, I got the same run around, its not posted on any buliten. When the dealer plugs the Buell into the Digital Tech, it connects to HD & tells the dealer then it needs the ECM update.

RUmor is there is now an even newer update from the one I got July 14th.. but no proof yet. I am putting mine in the shop to see about it.

Yes all of us with 2008's are pissed about the Mileage. I have been talking people out of buying Buells till this is fixed, just not worth the hassle. I am giving them till the winter to sort it out, if not, I am selling the bike. Or at this point push for lemon law (VA has one) I have kept every gas reciept & documented the mileage for the last 2500 miles of riding. A steady 30mpg city 37 freeway... sucks!

When did you buy the bike? As far as I can tell, there hasnt been a fix for the mileage issue found yet. There was a flash done awhile back, but it didnt fix the mileage issue. If you just bought the bike recently, It most likely had that flash done to it already. Wait a lil bit and see if they come out with another one. Trust in your dealer as well.

Do you mean the new one is supposed to be out this fall?

The dealer told me there weren't any service bulletins, except something about the headlight, or reflashes for the 08's.

I've read about some dealers doing some reflashing already. Are they just reflashing the stock maps?

I'm getting 30-33mpg on the freeway!

The bike was bought in November of 07.

I really don't feel comfortable taking it to the same jackasses that told me they'd have to charge 1.5-2 hours worth of labor to reset the TPS. It's a 3 minute job according to the service manual!

...so don't take it back to them. The same issue was the last straw with the dealer that I bought my Uly from just over a month ago. They don't want to be bothered, so don't bother with them.

There is a newer flash than what came in your bike - it was released less than a month ago. It is not a service bulliten, recall, or any other such thing. The only way they will find it is to hook your damned bike up to the DT like you asked them. It wouldn't even take 5 minutes to see if there was a new one available - if they aren't willing to take 5 minutes to help you, screw them. Go somewhere else.

There is no service bulletin. Just like every time they revise a part, it just goes into the system and supersedes the previous one. Just imagine how big the book would be if they released a bulletin for every little change during the year. At least there is a nice PDF showing year to year changes.

Did you have the bike serviced any time over the last month? If so, they might have flashed it then. If it hasnt been to them for several months, then yea, they need to listen to you. Maybe try telling them you know there is a new flash out for your ECM. Get the exact date it was released from Buell and give it to them. If they still wont budge, then try another dealership if you can. If not, try buell customer service again, and give them the exact steps you have attempted.
