Could someone just quick and dirty tell me how to remove the rims/tires? I'll take care of the supporting the bike, I just need to know what tools I need and what I need to remove? Do you balance the tires with the rotors still on? Is a big hex bit all that's needed to remove the rims? What size? Thanks, I need new tires soon and would rather remove the wheels myself. | ||

After you lift the swing arm: 1 loosen the axle pinch bolts 2 remove the axle I remove the drive cover and puss the rear in and take the belt off of the drive gear to give me more slack to get the tire out. | ||

Thanks. I see the pinch bolts, but i'm a little confused on wether the axle just slides out or you need to unscrew it with a hex socket. The front axle looks threaded for sure. | ||

I tried taking off my fron wheel and gave up. How do you get the brake off? Do I need to? It seems like it. Help! | ||

You don't need to remove tension off the belt before removing the axle? Do you mean you push the rear tire forward? Thanks | ||

The axle just screws out. I don't remove the tension from the belt. Yes push the rear tire forward. The front axle is reverse threaded, you need to remove the fender then lift the front wheel up and you can rotate the fork so that the front brake is out of the wheel. | ||

I have a manual but haven't used it much as working on these bikes is very easy. The manual is very important to have though in case you have to do something complicated. I have wrecked my bike 3 times (cause i stunt) and have been able to fix it each time myself. | ||

I have taken off the front wheel but not the back yet very easy. Now getting the tire off the rim can prove to be very difficult without the right equipment | ||

Careful with the torque values when putting the wheels back on. | ||

And for the millionth time. The rear axle is NOT reverse thread. That is the front axle. +1 on the torque values. AND the anti seize(both sides of the axle**manual says so**). Basically, get the service manual. (Message edited by mr2shim on July 30, 2008) |
