I took my airbox cover off yesterday and was surprised to find a stock paper filter. The airbox is open all the way around the filter, but I was expecting to find a high flow filter since this bike has the race ecm plus a doebeck performance dohickie. Is adding a K&N not standard practice when changing the exhaust and ecm?

To my knowledge a lot of people have done all 3 at once. exhaust, race ecm & K&N. I still have the paper filter as well. Ordering k&n one soon.

If you buy the "race kit" from Buell/HD it comes with the filter, race ecm and exhaust.

Well it has a drummer exhaust, so i don't think the previous owner bought the race kit. I might throw a K&N on and see how it runs.

Lots of people say that K&N's don't flow as well as normal paper filters. I don't necessarily believe this. Half the reason I bought my K&N was so that I could clean it and reuse it instead of having to buy a new one every time. Seems like a good investment, all of my toys/cars have K&N filters.

On Americansportbike.com it says the race kit from buell no longer comes with an oiled filter, so maybe my filter is not stock.
