My bike has been running great with no issues, then I filled up this morning at the local Loaf and Jug here at I25 and 60 in Johnstown, Colorado. I made it a few miles and then I could barely keep the bike running and with much distress, coaxing along side of the road and embarrassment barely made it to work. I walked to the gas station across from work and bought some Isopropyl based dry gas and a bottle of octane booster and poured them in. When leaving work for home I ran into more of the same until I hit about five miles or so and then it cleaned up and ran well the rest of the way back to the first station where I gave them a piece of my mind, and wrote down the number to report them to the state.
Anyway, Is there anything I should worry about or check from this experience? I plan to drain the tank and use it in the lawnmower. Should I do anything further or should everything be OK at this point? I absolutely love my bike and it has been trouble free for over 20,000 miles so far so any pointers for avoiding problems would be appreciated. Thanks Guys! Ray

Draining the tank is a good idea in my opinion.

Did the bike sit for a long time since you last rode it? You can also get water from condensation in the tank, if you don't store it with the tank full.

Also, ethenol contains water. If the fuel sits for too long(which aint too long at all, 30 days maybe), it will separate, and you'll end up with water in your tank.

And be careful about how much isopropl alcohol you use, it tends to break down those rubber parts it comes into contact with. Which is a bigger problem.

The Lightning only sat for five days while I was out in Salt Lake. Hopefully the Toro will appreciate the concoction. I will try to freshen it up today. Thanks for the feed back. By the way the station refused to refund my money so I am filing a formal complaint with the state fuel certifying agency.

I had a similar experience years ago.

The advice I got at the time included not getting gas from a station that is getting it's
tanks re-filled or recently got them re-filled since the moisture that naturally collects
in the tanks gets stirred instead of sitting harmlessly on the bottom.

Of course that bit of advice is hard to follow if you don't know when the station in
question takes deliveries.

Definitely drain the tank, and I'd use a little injector cleaner in the next tank or
two as well. It worked on my (carbuerated) Vf-1000-f interceptor FWIW
