SERVICE BULLETIN
2003-2006 FIREBOLT HEADLIGHTS
PRODUCT PROGRAM 0501
Reason For Revision
This revised bulletin includes corrected part information in
the credit procedure tables, and correctly indicates that the
services under this product program will expire two years
from the date of this bulletin
.
Purpose
Buell Motorcycle Company has determined that headlight
assemblies on some 2003-2006 Firebolt models have a
reflective material which can potentially degrade and reduce
light output.
In the interest of customer satisfaction and continuous
improvement, Buell Motorcycle Company has elected to
replace the low and high beam headlight assemblies for
affected motorcycles.
Motorcycles Affected
All 2003-2006 Buell Firebolt model motorcycles (XB9R and
XB12R) shipped from the factory before the dates shown in
Table 1.
Table 1. Affected Vehicle Build Dates
Market Affected Vehicles
CAL, CAN, DOM Vehicles built before 9/08/2005
AUS, ENG, JPN Vehicles built before 10/10/2005
EUR Vehicles built before 11/28/2005

Just got an official letter in the mail today. Too bad my bike needs more than a head light. Looks like they will refund the new one that was only on the bike for a week though.

I also received my official letter in the mail today. Anyone think that I should remove my H.I.D. and aluminum foil before I go to the dealer?

I'd remove the HIDs or they'll get pitched by the dealer as non-stock parts.

I'd re-install them as soon as you get home.

The Lightning headlights suck as well. Thankfully, I haven't noticed mine degrading yet, though.

I received my letter too. I have to give Buell credit for acknowledging the problem with the headlight reflectors and spending a whole of lot of $$ to remedy it.

Not necessarily. The problem was the result of a not to spec manufactured lot. I'm not sure when but there was a point in time that the supplier came into spec.

If your's is affected you'll get a letter.

the low beam reflector on my 2006 XB12ss 7000 miles is already starting to degrade also. IT would be nice if PIAA would make a replacement set for the XB's!
