Hey there peoples. I just picked up a new '07 XB12STT. And ordered a bunch of parts to make it an Ss. Well 160 miles on the bike and i locked the front up in some road crap and had a sweet over the handlebars spill in a parking lot at 20 mph. Shattered my collar bone. Sitting there in the parking lot waiting for the ambulance i inventoried all of the broken bits and called up the dealership to get them on order while i was in the Emergency Room. Total damage to the bike - $86 not to bad. So now i got about 5 weeks to put all the replacement bits on the bike and to complete the transformation to Ss. Any buellers in the central Mass area?

Oh Man!!
You tore yours up faster than I did!! No use putting things off till the last minute I guess.
Let's see; two weeks to get all you functional, and gather parts. A week to get it together.
Those last two weeks are going to be awful.

I bet you cheat.

Never thought you'd hear sorry and welcome in the same sentence? It happens...I did, we've all probably did it at least once. You got it out of the way. Be easy on that front brake...or order a bunch of extra parts. Either way...welcome to both clubs. (Buells and Falls)

I did something very similar.... a week after the Rider's Edge course no less....

I fixated on a curb I didn't want to hit; panicked - grab a handle full of front brake
and went down.

Luckily my knee absorbed the majority of the impact. Just had to replace the clutch lever and left foot peg.

On the positive side I have gone a year with out incident. I kept the broken foot
peg as a reminder to make sure I don't get complacent.

Hope you heal up fast. Good luck and don't forget to post pictures of your bike when
you get it all back together.

Hey Simma, that sucks. Hope you and your bike get better quickly =)

I just got my XB9R, and the very first time riding it (I should qualify that by saying it was my very first time ever riding any bike) I dropped it and broke off the clutch lever and left foot peg.

But yeah...that brake is sensitive! I was nearly stopped, and at the last second hit it a little too hard, startled myself, and fell over.

Matt,

Don't feel bad I just broke mine at about 5 mph in the church parking lot. While braking I rode over some fresh crack sealer (pitch) and down I went on my shoulder. Helmet never touched the ground.

You can't be too careful no matter how experienced you are. I'm just a little more experienced now.

Good luck healing.

Thanks Everyone. For any who are wondering, the ztl brake is way better than the brakes on the cbr600 i traded in for the buell! Doctor's appointment today. He's gonna tell me how they are gonna reassemble me, and what kind of accessories I'll be getting in me. Sweet! Question to all, how well does the color molded tank plastic take to paint?

Hope you heal quickly !

I'm going in for an MRI tommorrow for a back that keeps getting worse. Funny thing is, it's worse when sitting in a chair or in my truck...my TT is the easiest thing on my back to ride ! Hope you're back on your TT soon!

STAY AWAY FROM THE NEBO GROUP!!!! They will make you ride fast in the twisties, make modifications to your bike and make fun of you in the process!! They have to be the lowest form of pond scum that I ever had the pleasure of being a part of

Sorry to hear about the incident. Hope the healing goes well. As far as painting the plastics goes, there have been quite a few that have painted and gotten great results. There is also an option of Rit dye depending on the color you want.
