.....they gouged it up while rotating the engine. I want to know if it can be fixed or does it have to be replaced? I'd rather it be replaced of course, I've only owned the bike 3 months. It's a 12, so I don't know if they'll try to paint or or what. I think the cover is powdercoat, right?

Anyhow, just want to be armed with some knowledge before I start the long battle to get my bike fixed right........

Can you prove that they did it? I'm not saying I disbelieve you, but that's usually the first hurdle to overcome when it comes to having dealer damage repaired - being able to prove that it wasn't there when it went IN the dealership.

I'd force them to replace it, personally, though that may leave you bikeless for an extended period of time.

Well of course it's my word against there's, but the tech did say that it happened during engine rotation.

I just want to make sure they don't try to paint it or something half-a$$....

They should replace and install it free of charge IMO.

Can they even fix it? I don't want them to just paint it or something, which is what they'll try to do. It's powdercoat anyhow, right?

Where exactly is the damage; can it be seen when sitting on or standing near the bike?

If yes: replacement of case is a must
If no: ask for a cash settlement and move on.

Its on the rear of the case, where the foot peg bracket is. Yes it can be seen. I found it almost immediately. But someone else may not see it at all......I seem to find things others miss. It's a curse i think.
