It's been done, but it ain't easy. And it ain't no street bike.

From 2002:
"Racing at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats, Team Elves, holders of 4 motorcycle land speed records, pushed their 1995 Buell to a new record of 202.989 mph becoming the first Harley-Davidson powered motorcycle of less than 1650cc to exceed a 200 mph record speed."

This is very normal. Aren't you guys used to Harley riders telling you how fast their bikes are? Living in a vacuum creates one's own reality and relative performance.

ok you guys are all right...thats right i havent raced my friends on my bike and oh yea i forgot to mention i didnt smoke him...shouldnt talk unless you actually witnessed it...anyway im not doubting the bike might not touch 200 but it surely does around 190 i will have it clocked this week take a picture and post the reading online so you all can see how fast i actually went. and being around race bikes doesnt mean the bike is going to get near 200 on a track unless your going around a speedway...take one of those race bikes and go straight instead of around a bunch of corners than see how fast it goes...cant believe you are all doubting the buell thought you would be more excited than trying to prove me wrong wen u honestly dont know

They're not doubting the Buell, they just know there is no free lunch. 200mph is no small feat. There are some smart guys here who can explain it better than I can, but the power needed to achieve a given speed rises to the square of that speed. A Hayabusa makes ~160rwhp and needs every bit of it coupled with great aerodynamics to reach 190mph. Even if we assumed the Firebolt's aerodynamics were on par with the Hayabusa's (they aren't), there's no way you'd be reaching 190mph with anything less than 150rwhp. If you can pull ~150rwhp out of a streetable 1200cc Buell, you currently know far more about engine tuning than anyone else currently involved with tuning Buells.

This thread cracks me up, I'm gunna buy some J.C.Whitney engine rebuild in a can to freshen my motor and stop at the local auto parts store and get some octane booster and Wynns friction fighter on the way to Bonneville so I can knock out some new land speed records.

OK ok ok, I live in Philly and I see Ridrnkink18 lives in NJ. I'm willing to drive over and meet this 190mph XB. Please tell me when I can see this amazingly built machine it would make my day. I have a 9, race kit and some other mods… Most of the people I ride with have Race rep bikes. Beating a newer ricer in a drag race is possible to maybe 100 or so but after that there all going to walk away from you. Or maybe at 88 mph's the flux capacitor kicks in taking you to 190mph. But that would mean your bike is running on 1.21 gigawatts. I didn’t know that kind of power was possible out of an XB. What do I know?

We're aren't trying to prove you're wrong. Those of us WITH experience just know what you're talking about is beyond the physical abilities of the motor you described.

I must repeat, I love this thread! Not to mention the fact that Ridrnkink totally got away from the initial point of the thread.
Building a firebolt with a 1125r.

It is ok, bud. You have just introduced your self as another one of the 10%. I refer to this 10% as . . . the ones who continue to give motorcyclists a negative appearance. Racing on the street is for children! It shows immaturity and lack of respect for everyone else on the road.

I want to publicly THANK YOU for contributing to the following:
High Cost Insurance on Sportbikes,
Restricted Performance Bikes,
the constant attention of Law Enforcement,
and the disrespect of fellow motorists thinking, 'There goes another kid on a crotch-rocket.'

I hope you don't end up on the news as "another motorcyclist has died . . ."

Make sure to use Teflon sealing tape on all your fittings. I've heard it makes things faster.

I wonder how many stickers his bike has in order to make it that fast....he has to have them all over the damn place, over the speedo, on the exhaust, on the tires...

I'd like to see somebody work out the 1125r to mph based on the Superbike times and track distance.

My math is bad once I run out of fingers and toes, heck, it's tense before that.

200mph is the magick number, building ANYTHING that approaches it isn't a matter of dumb luck. Go look at the Bonneville thread in the racing section. There are guys that spend YEARS chasing that number and don't come close. Look at the time and effort put into those machines in the racing board.
So, either this kid knows something everyone else has missed or his GSXR buddy is sand bagging, and his ego is swelling larger than his brain or his balls. Maybe its cutting off the blood flow to his brain and he's suffering from some time/spatial distortion.
What you need dude is a reality check, go find someone on a stock Hiyabusa. see where you stand after challenging him to a race. Top speed of a BONE-STOCK Hiyabusa is 192mph. I think you'll be left wanting of 30+ mph.

I want to know 2 things and I'll know the rest of the story.

1) what size and brand of tire (so I can figure the OD of the tire)

2) what his redline is set at.

From those I can tell you how fast the rear tire must spin to hit 200...errr 192,
and knowing his redline I can tell you what his final drive ratio has to be and that
will tell me how many HP he needs to pull those gears (assuming stock bodywork,
or even full fairing).

The numbers will tell us the truth.

All we need is a response to 2 simple questions it's time to find the truth.

I'd guess 50+ mph is what he'd be lacking against a stock busa.
The '01 I rode several years back would run 90+ mph in first gear and was still pulling like a freight train.
Damn near had to change my underware after that ride.

Sorry guys, but Ridrnkink18 is right on this one. These bikes CAN do 210 when done correctly.
This is how I did it, and its the truth. Here we go.
I changed my oil to 0W 5, then added Slick50 to it, lowered my tire pressure to 10 (8 in the front), put on an aerodynamic helmet, which helped A LOT, hooked up that chain drive sprocket thingey, deleted my headlights, to save weight, put REGULAR gas in the tank, cleaned my airbox cover with crisco, and FINALLY changed my license plate to an automobile sized one.

I beat my friends zx14 all day long.
ALL this was done on an XB9SX!!!!
If you guys want, you can pay me to add these mods to your bikes, and you'll be doing 200 by this weekend!!!

PM me if youre interested!!!!
