My 08 Bolt is eating fuel pump fuse's. Why?

PS there is no good time for your bike to stop running while your riding. I know the 1125R guys think it's ok, but com'on here It's a tried and true Firebolt. Has anyone else gone through this what was the remedy?

ahhh haaaaaaa,

I already had this in the dealer once. Right after the first one blew. They popped a new fuse in and said good to go. I asked well what made the fuse blow? The assured me it was a one time gig, no worries.

aaarrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I dont like the idea of being hundreds of miles in the mountains or from any civilization when something goes wrong.

If the bike is under warranty it wouldn't hurt to have the dealer pull the pump to take a look.

If it's not under warranty, it is actually not too difficult to pull the pump yourself.
If you can remove the rear wheel, it's just a couple more steps to remove the swing arm.
The shop manual gives pretty clear direction.

The pump comes out easy with the specialty tool.
It comes out with a screwdriver too but odds are the o-rings will get munched. (I know) but it is a good idea (and a requirement according to the book) to replace all the 0-rings and drain plug anyway if you pull it.

On a side note, there is always the possibility that there is a chaffed wire in the harness either between the pump and battery or the pump and grey ecm connector but not likely.
There's just too many of us who have had our pumps chaff in exactly the same spot to not take a look.

This is in all models too. Ulys, R's and S's all use the same pump.
